On 24 November, 2023, at approximately 16:14 PM (UTC+7), the Olovian president Saleh A.H, accompanied by Olovian sergeant Gibran Meidiansyah Kasim, led a decisive assault comprising thirteen Olovian Youth militias against five Mikaelist militias in the northeastern Romansyah, Ondernaming.[1] The assault directly led a crisis between the Olovian-central government and the Mikaelist faction, dubbed as the "Ojan Crisis."
Background
"In terms of religion and politics, I support Israel, my faction also will"
— Mikaelist faction former chief Mikael Gabriel Rafael
On November 16, 2023, around 15:47 PM (UTC+7), the Olovian president Saleh A.H hosted an event involving the stepping of the Israeli flag in response to what he characterized as "atrocities, terrorism, and war crimes committed by Israel on Palestinian civilians" on the ongoing Israel–Hamas war.
While some members of the Mikaelist faction voiced their opposition to the event, the majority supported the event, including Mikaelist commander Adnan Adi Pratama, who then burned the Israeli flag.
At approximately 16:30 PM (UTC+7), Saleh A.H delivered an oration expressing his support for Palestine, including its militant organization Hamas, and his strong opposition to Israel in Romansyah, Ondernaming. His speech concluded around 17:22 PM (UTC+7).
Following the oration, Fhauzan Amrizal, a pro-Mikael Ondernaming patrol who expressed support for Israel, opposed Saleh A.H, and the pro-Palestine supporters in Ondernaming.
The assault
Olovian Youth militias were initially deployed to northeastern Romansyah for a training exercise and a friendly football match. However, the Olovian president Saleh A.H issued a command with the purpose of their presence to an offensive against Mikaelist militias and pro-Israel supporters in the region at 16:14 PM (UTC+7). The assault was also carried out by Olovian sergeant Gibran Meidiansyah Kasim, comprising over thirteen Olovian Youth militias.
At around 16:22 PM (UTC+7), Olovian Youth militias managed to capture the majority of northeastern Romansyah areas, which were stationed by five Mikaelist militias, but their efforts to reclaim the adjacent Fadil-Arit area were ultimately unsuccessful due to major reinforcements from the Mikaelist faction. Mikaelist sergeant Harits Fudhail Sopandi viewed the assault as "an invasion on Mikaelist-controlled Ondernaming areas."
Aftermath
The assault continued until 17:09 PM (UTC+7), at which point the Olovian Youth militias withdrew from the area to avoid possible further losses.
Beginning of the Ojan crisis
Fhauzan Amrizal, who was previously aligned with the Mikaelist faction, publicly declared his disassociation from the faction due to the assault.[2] Following the assault, it erupted a crisis between the Olovian-central government and the Mikaelist faction with tensions escalating in the region, This crisis became widely known as the "Ojan Crisis" among Ondernaming, named after the nickname of Fhauzan Amrizal.
