Neoavanctus 2 is an Sameran animated science fiction film directed and produced by John Sacker. The second installment in the Neoavanctus franchise and the sequel to Neoavanctus (1998).

Plot

The film takes place 1 year after the first movie, Tim had apparently lived in the bunker with Jacob and Nick. Nick had discovered an unused robot in the basement of the lab and decided to perform experiments on it, However the performance activated the robot by mistake causing it to reboot and shoot lasers at the entire room. An grand breach had apparently occurred because the robot had been reactivated. Jacob, Nick, Tim and other researchers run away to the bunker. There are some people left in the lab itself and they were killed by the robots. The power in the underground facility had ran out and Tim, Jacob and Nick were separated from the rest of the researchers. Jacob witnessed an researcher being shot by a robot with its lasers in the office. The police were notified to help the trapped researchers, When the police arrived they could not see anything as the lab was entirely underground. They were told that the lab was underground so they try to find the entrance. John, an police officer tried to call but there was no cellular network in the area causing them to find where the entrance to their Nullarbor lab is. However the robot managed to enter the missile silo causing the lab to explode and the entrance was discovered by the police officers because of the explosion. Nick, Tim and Jacob were hospitalized and they were notified to know that the robot had escaped. The robot was wanted by the police for A$1,000,000 but the whereabouts of the robot is apparently unknown. After Nick, Tim and Jacob had recovered from the injury they decide to look on the internet for the robot. An news article said that the robot was last seen in Hong Kong destroying buildings. They decide to board an Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong to capture the robot. However while the plane was flying near the Philippines the robot passed the plane and attacked the plane. Jacob tried to capture the robot but the robot tried attacking him. The plane then crashed landed in an forest in Luzon, Philippines. An grand battle between the robot and Jacob, Tim and Nick began. However Jacob was kidnapped by the robot and was taken to Bangkok. Tim and Nick was then lost in the forest so they decide to survive for 1 week. Then 1 week later they found an urban area and they decide to go to the airport and fly to Bangkok. Jacob was held hostage in a building in Silom, Bangkok. Nick and Tim needed to find Jacob so they decide to build an IP tracking phone and call the robot, Apparently it picked up and the IP was tracked to an building in Silom, Bangkok. They board the skytrain and got out of the station and found the building. They jumped over the building turnstiles and went up the elevator, The room where Jacob is held hostage is apparently unknown but witnesses said that he was somewhere in Floor 7. The room was discovered and the robot tried to attack Tim and Nick. Jacob apparently ran away and Tim decide to attack the robot with a crowbar. The system had malfunctioned causing the robot to break. Tim, Jacob and Nick then decide to settle in Sydney since their lab in the Nullarbor had been destroyed.

Production

Development

Neoavanctus 2 was announced during the CoraxS5 Conference in 2002, Production began in February 2003. The movie was animated in Macromedia Flash MX (6) which the quality was different from the first film.

Release

The film was premiered on 17 October 2003 at the New Finland Theatre

Home media

DVD For the film was released on 2 August 2004.

Reception

The film was reviewed by most people as average, However the rating was good as the quality of the film was better than the first one.

Sequel

The sequel, titled Neoavanctus 3, was released on 30 August 2007. In the film, It takes place 10 years after the first film, World War III which was an nuclear war had apparently devastated the world.
