The May 2022 Zeprana Presidential Election was the first democratic election in the Federal Republic of Zeprana for the Federal President of Zeprana. The election saw Matthew Cunningham win the election with a 40.7% percentage and a total of 11 votes, with him becoming the first Worker's Party of Zeprana member to be a President of Zeprana.
Background
Following the creation of the 4 May constitution in Zeprana and its passage several days later as the official constitution of Zeprana, the first Zepranan Presidential Election was to be held the 11 May 2022, with a large range of different parties in the race, although the 3 major ones were the Worker's Party, Monarchist Party, and National Front of Salvation. The previous President, Terry McKeen, declined to run as they believed that they were to be appointed Prime Minister, in which they were only to be dismissed 2 days later in favour of Bryce Smith.
Aftermath
Following the conclusion of the election, Matthew Cunningham was sworn in as the first Federal President of a new Zeprana, which had attempted to break away from the former McKeenist past and open the nation up to the intermicronational community more.
