The Government of Kingdom of Maldernia has no official governmental document, but there is a traditional structure of government that has been adhered to for its entire existence. Maldernian law makes up the criminal offenses in the country, mostly being based on scripture. The King officially has total control over the government, replacing people at will and destroying and creating government departments at will. This is due to the Kingdom's belief in Divine Right

The Diet

The Diet is the nation's deliberative body. The Diet consists of prominent nobles, scholars, and military leaders. The Diet is not a legislative body in the traditional sense, for it doesn't vote on anything. The Diet discusses and deliberates until a general consensus can be made. The King appoints personally to the diet, and it usually consists of people that agree ideologically to the king. Once appointed, terms are for life, unless the appointee does something against Maldernia, or something extremely disgraceful in general.

Maldernian Feudalism

The Kingdom of Maldernia is a Feudalistic state in name but in practice is simply an Absolute monarchy. Once a title has been granted to someone, it is inherited through Agnatic-Cognatic Primogeniture. The duchies maintain local government with a relative amount of authority, though the King has authority over the entire nation. Due to the low population, the feudalistic duchies hold only symbolic power, and the King holds all the power.

Criminal Law

Maldernia is integralist in nature, with its laws being based on scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The law has yet to be completely compiled. Currently, there is a document in the process of being created by Maldernian scholars and Diet titled "The Criminal Code of Maldernia." They are consulting Old Testament laws, though not ones fulfilled during the New Covenant, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, as well as medieval and current criminal codes, which will be properly sourced within the code.
