The Lord High Admiral of Bastara is the ceremonial head of the Royal Bastaran Navy and a great officer of state. It ranks ninth in the order of precedence of the great officers.
The office was established on 21 June 2023, and was the last great officership to be established. It is preceded by the Earl Marshal of Bastara.
The office is currently vacant - or officially known as Office in Commission.
Appointment
The office is appointed solely at the discretion of the Monarch of Bastara and serves at their pleasure. When the office has no directly appointed holder it enters a state known as 'Office in Commission' and reverts to the Crown.
Appointees can be royalty, including the monarch directly, or civilians. Appointees aren't often professional naval officers.
Privileges
Lord High Admirals are granted the honorary style of 'The Honourable' during the period in which they hold office. As well as this, they can be granted a one-off stipend at the discretion of Parliament to get themselves a naval uniform usually with the rank insignia of an Admiral.
