Micronationalism
- Contrary to academic and journalistic estimates, there are indeed more than 100 micronations. Such estimates typically exclude cyber micronations or only include micronstions which are well-known or ubiquitous to the media, influential in some way, secessionist or "serious", or active. As early as the late 1990s, the Micronations DataBase maintained by the League of Secessionist States listed 574 micronations, and as of September 2023, there were over 6,000 micronations with an individual entry on online micronational wiki and encyclopaedia MicroWiki.
- Micronationalism was never "ruined", nor did micronations used to be "more serious".
Individual micronations
- The Republic of Molossia was never taken over by a micronation called Kickassia. Kickassia is a 2010 comedy film by YouTube commentator Nostalgia Critic, which depicts a fictionalised version of himself taking over the micronation and renaming it. Althogh Molossia's official website lists this as a real invasion, this is only for humour.
- The Principality of Seborga is not one-thousand years old.
