The Sovereign Military Kingdom of the Land of the Bears is a micronation located in the British Isles which claims 1000+ acres of land across the regions of Scotland and England altogether mostly accentuated within rural Lincolnshire. The Land of the Bears is run in a semi constitutional Monarchy with the Simpson dynasty, first founded in 1961 by King Alan I, acting as heads of states, with elections set to be held once yearly. The Kingdom is now governed by King Alan's grandson Jamie I. The population is set to be estimated at 270 with roughly 15-60 occupying the nation at all times. The Land of the Bears has gone through 3 distinct monarchs throughout its history, King Alan, George I and King Jamie. All 3 of these men have been a member of the same Simpson Dynasty which is said to be one of the longest-running micronational dynasties in micronation history, ruling over the land of the bears for 61 years.

History

Foundation

In 1961, King Alan grew tired of the mundane political system of the United Kingdom and its mistreatment of bears, so he had the idea to use his land to have a safe haven for all bears across the world. He got a group of bears and men alike and was declared His Royal Highness King Alan I of the Land of the Bears with absolute power, to be advised by only his nobles. It was a great party within the nation although King Alan gained criticism for his controversial cheese laws, he was still quite popular with the people.

The Great Bear War

Towards the start of 1969, many started to criticise the bear elements of the nation, including external and internal forces who disliked the bears. The opposition slowly grew in size and this culminated in a burning and genocide event known as the Bear Genocide or Great Bear War. Some claim as many as 800 bears were burnt by humans at the stake, some say only leaving 200 alive as survivors. King Alan fought valiantly and is the only reason any bear survived in the first place. This event is portrayed in the 2022 film 'The Last Story of the Great Bear War'.

King George and the Exile

After the loss of the 1969 Great Bear War, King Alan was forced to abdicate the throne to his father, King George. King George was not enthusiastic about taking the throne in a country that had just lost a war and that was in exile, but he served his duty valiantly, serving the bears and his people especially in 1975 exile crisis. George was one of the instrumental figures in returning from exile, although his reign saw a quite stagnant economy. People saw him as a great ruler. In 1986 King George passed away. In the aftermath of his death King Alan took up a regency council and acted fundamentally as king until 2019, when King Jamie took the throne. The regency period was seen as quite a stagnation in national culture, although many great strides were made by King Alan to improve the nation.

King Jamies rule and present day bear kingdom

King Jamie took the throne in late December 2019 because by then he was of legal age and ready to take the throne ,King Alan at is coronation is said to have stated a new age to have begun when he was crowned and that a golden era would soon arise for the bear kingdom, and king Alan was right through king Jamies reign so far he has stabilised the kingdom and made many new amenities for the peasant class improving the peoples lives with things like train services and a football team aswell as establishing the land of the bears on a more diplomatic stage.

Royal Bear Family

The Royal Family is an immense source of pride for the nation, who seem to be the only continuity within the nations history, from King Alan to King Jamie, that have governed the land freely and openly.

There is also the other main noble family known as the Custard family, who are known as the bear nobility. They are independent bear nobility and advise the king on everything (although they seem to be quite corrupt).

Culture and Religion

The Land of the Bears has a strong culture and religious identity. The National Bearism church is the main religious instiution, who believe that King Alan I was god gifted down from the heavens to save the bear peoples. As god of the bears this church has also given out sainthoods, famously with patron Saint Wojtek who was given a sainthood for his service in WW2.
