The Kingdom of Varatania (va-ra-ta-ni-a  (Listen) (help·info)) more commonly known as simply Varatania, is a sovereign state, called a micronation by external observers, consisting of multiple non-contiguous pieces of land, in New York and Australia. It was founded on 3 December 2021.[1] The Kingdom's form of government is an absolute monarchy. It was solely based on a monarchy as it is the most common government system within micronationalism.

Climate

Yorkian Varatania

The climate of Yorkian Varatania features a humid subtropical variety (Cfa), with the locality transitioning into a humid continental climate. (Dfa)[2] This gives the territory cool, wet winters and hot, humid summers with plentiful rainfall all year round.

The locality can be prone to extremes. Snowfall is an infrequent occurrence in the territory, on average occurring on only 12 days per year, though it can be heavy when it occurs. It can also be prone to strong winds, being a coastal location it is exposed to the Atlantic. This can be especially pronounced during the autumn and winter months, with a gust of 78 miles per hour (126 km/h) being reported on December 2, 1974.[3]

Aussie Varatania

Aussie Varatania has a humid subtropical climate (Cwa) under the Köppen climate classification.[5] Average maximum temperatures range from 30 °C (86 °F) in summer to 23 °C (73 °F) in winter, while minimums range from 11 to 23 °C (52 to 73 °F).

Winters are sunny and fairly dry, with minimum temperatures usually around 10 °C (50 °F), but rarely any lower than 5 °C (41 °F). Days are pleasant and warm; however, occasional cloudy days may keep the temperature below 20 °C (68 °F) all day. Frost is extremely rare in Mackay; however, it has been recorded to the west of the city during some winters. Mackay gets around 110.0 clear days annually.

Spring is usually dry, but significantly hotter and more humid than winter, with temperatures beginning to top 30 °C (86 °F) on a regular basis. Occasional thunderstorms may cause heavy downpours, but the very heavy rain will not arrive until later in summer.

December is the start of the wet season, which lasts until March or April. High humidity, almost daily rainfall and very warm nights are typical of this time of year. Monsoonal low pressure systems and tropical cyclones occasionally affect the territory, and cause very heavy, prolonged periods of rain, with totals of up to 200 mm (7.9 in) often being recorded in 24 hours during these systems.

Extreme temperatures in Aussie Varatania have ranged from 39.7 to −0.4 °C (103.5 to 31.3 °F). The highest rainfall ever recorded in 1 day was 627.4 mm (24.7 in) on 22 January 1918,[6]
