Greater Eastand, officially the Kingdom of Greater Eastand, is a self declared sovereign state known as a micronation by external observers. It was founded on 21 April 2023 by first monarch King Oswald I.

Greater Eastand is a constitutional monarchy, with the monarch having powers outlined by a constitution. The prime minister serves as head of government and an advisor to the monarch.

History

Greater Eastand was established on 21 April 2023. The constitution was also written and adopted on founder's day.

Monarchy

The monarch of Greater Eastand serves as head of state. They have executive powers granted to them by the constitution. The monarch also is typically expected to carry out duties including:

  • Appointing the Prime Minister
  • Appointing Other Cabinet Ministers
  • Calling Parliamentary Elections
  • Vetoing or Assenting Legislation

Prime Minister

The prime minister is the kingdom's head of government. They are appointed by the monarch and are typically a member of a house of parliament and are leader of their political party. The prime minister chairs the cabinet, sets the government agenda and leads the legislative process in parliament.

Parliament

Parliament is the legislature of the kingdom. It is bicameral, being made up of a House of Commons as the lower house and a House of Elders as the upper house. The house of commons is made up of elected Members of Parliament and is the house in which the government normally sits. Members of the Commons represent constituencies. The house of elders is made up of people appointed by the monarch, typically based on their expertise in certain areas or for their service to the nation.

Administrative Regions

The kingdom is split into ceremonial provinces each with their own Lord Lieutenant as the ceremonial head. Each lord lieutenant is appointed by the monarch and appointees may hold seats in the house of elders for their stay in office.

Geography

Greater Eastand is located in the United Kingdom but the government is trying to save money to purchase an island as a more permanent land claim.
