Balmex /Ball Mex/, officially the Kingdom of Balmex (Spanish: Reino do Balmex), is a sovereign landlocked microstate located in the U.S state of California. It is enclaved by The United States of America and gained its independence from America on September 2015. Formerly part of the U.S state of California, the area was claimed by the Spanish Empire as part of Alta California. Altra California then became part of Mexico in 1821. Following the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, the western territory of Altra California became part of the US leading California to become a state on September 9, 1950. One hundred sixty-five years later, a small land area in southern California gained its independence as the Kingdom of Balmex.
Balmex is governed under a form of constitutional monarchy, with King Alexander as head of state. Although being a constitutional monarchy, the monarch wields major political power and influence. The House of Balpez, the ruling house of Balmex, owned an influx of land and wealth helping them gain absolute political power over the new country.
