King James I of Great Hanover is known for his involvement with the Kingdom of Hanover, Morovia, Scone, and more recently the Kingdom of Great Hanover. Throughout his time serving these more privately established 'micronations', or 'small kingdoms' as he puts it, James found himself gaining experience with proper monarch procedures, customs, and history of many monarchies throughout history.
Kingdom of Hanover
For a short time, King James was the sovereign of two completely separate and independent kingdoms. Although over Scone, James reigned as a constitutional figurehead, his authority over the Kingdom of Glennish Hanover was absolute. Glennish Hanover was eventually donated to the Kingdom of Scone by King James, then formally secured to the Sconnish Crown as a colonial dependency by an Act of Parliament. The Kingdom of Scone and the Colonial Province of Glennish Hanover, together, became known as "The Glennains" or the "Glennish Empire," thus accounting for the King of Scone's secondary title "Emperor of All the Glennains."
Kingdom of Varennes
Varennes was another small project, which was created in 2003 and lasted until 2006. James did not hold a leadership position within Varennes, however was part of the formation. In 2006, Varennes was merged with the Kingdom of Hanover, where James was made Governor General. Varennes was then made into a Dominion instead of a Kingdom. In 2010, Varennes was dissolved, ultimately replaced with Sconeland.
Kingdom of Scone
King James was ceremonially installed as first King of the Sconnish on 17 March 2014. His inaugural rites consisted of an auto-coronation followed by a Throne Speech opening the very first Sconnish Parliament. King James authored the Charter of Scone, enacted by that first Parliament, and much of the early legislation to follow. King James directed the creation of the Kingdom of Scone's public infrastructure, establishing her social media. King James also presided over the installation of the first Sconnish Government led by the first Sconnish Prime Minister (and first democratically-elected Sconnish public official), the Earl of Rockcliffe.
On 15 September 2018, King James delivered an address to the Court at St Ives' declaring his intention to depart the throne in favour of the Prince Regent. James intimated to his successor that he believed he had "exhausted the topic" of his hopes and aspirations for the Kingdom of Scone, determining that the time had come for him to step aside. James, King of the Sconnish and Emperor of All the Glennains formally abdicated on 1 October 2018, ending his brief reign of only four years and seven months. Following a series of diplomatic discussions with His Majesty The King over several months in 2022, King James consented to repatriate himself within the Sconnish polity at the rank of prince of the Glennish Empire, a new title devised by the Crown for the use of former Glennish sovereigns.
Kingdom of Great Hanover
After noticing that the Kingdom of Hanover had been abandoned for many years by its previous leadership, King James decided to reclaim the throne to allow the kingdom to continue upon its 20th anniversary. Upon his return, Hanover was renamed to Great Hanover, a Parliament established, which has continued to this day.
Commonwealth of Dracul
The Founder's Committee of Dracul received a recommendation from Prime Minister Jordan Farmer of Westarctica, of a candidate with experience in proper management of monarchies. James I of Great Hanover and Scone was that candidate who was eventually introduced via phone conference. Over the course of two months, Dracul became well acquainted with James and the two realized their mutual compatibility. After laying out the ground work for establishing the ceremonial monarchy, 1 November 2022 was the date selected for James's installation, taking place live from his physical palace.
On 29 October 2022, King James informed the Draculian government of his resignation from the Prince-Elect position. His reasons for resigning were based on incompatibilities between himself, Dracul’s, and the micronational community. The incompatibilities identified and cited during the past several weeks include (among other things) cultural differences, various concerns about the management of His Majesty’s personal narrative, and substantial misunderstandings regarding the expectations of the princely role.
