Ikerlàndia presidential election, October 2023
The 2023 Ikerlàndia presidential election was held on 23 October 2023. Three political party run. The Front of Ikerlandians (Daagga Braddy) came victorious winning the ikerlandian presidency. Voters elected Daagga Braddy and Waatmaat Baabylla with 52.6% of the vote, while Saabba Krainna and Taatta Mooreen received 48.4% of the vote.
Pittujamsä Pelutxinná, the first and incumbent president, said that he would not run for re-election with the BNI - INB.
Braddy and Baabylla were inaugurated on 24 October 2023 following the protocol.
General election campaign
Party conventions
The Ikerlandian National Convention 2023 was held in Doggat Rurannán from 29 April to 2 May 2023. The Social Ikerlandian Convention 2023 was held in Daagga on 9 May 2023.
Debates
The Commission on Electoral Debates hosted three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate during the first round campaign. One presidential debate was cancelled. No debates were held during the second round campaign.
Qualification of candidates
In order to qualify for the IBS-sponsored debates, presidential candidates have to meet the following criteria; vice-presidential candidates qualify by being the running mate of a qualifying presidential candidate:
- Be constitutionally eligible to hold the Speakership.
- Appear on the ballot.
- Either:
- be nominated by a political party with representation in the Parliament.
- hold or have held previously a political office.
