The Grand Republic of Salania, or Salania ([suh-LEY-nee-uh]), was the third and final incarnation of the Salanian state, and was founded on the downfall of the Holy Salanian Empire on March 31, 2011. It was a transitional government between the HSE and the Commonwealth of Lavrasia, and thus incorporated characteristics of both entities.
History
As a result of the negative opinion of the Empire, the growing disinterest in micronationalism among Salanian citizens, and the abdication of the Emperor, most of the territories claimed by the HSE were reneged by the new Republic. The new nation reverted to the early territorial holdings of the first Republic, entirely within one of the administrative regions of the Empire. The new Republic distanced itself immensely from the MicroWiki community, to the point that only a few close friends of the nation knew that Salania even continued to exist.
It was at this point that the de facto President, Jordan I, approached President David I of Varina of Ultamiya and Dylan Callahan, Son III of NottaLotta Acres to suggest that the three nations and their citizens join and form a confederation, as all three leaders held similar political and religious beliefs and were geographically located in the same macronation. Ultamiya rejected the offer, but Son III made a counterproposal: become a client state of a new NottaLottan Empire in exchange for an economic and political stimulus plan. The weary Salanians agreed, and the Grand Republic ceased to exist on July 15, 2011.
Infrastructure
Political, military, and cultural institutions were almost totally absent in the wake of the collapse of the HSE. However, a new, simpler organization of the military and the idea of a confederation were contemplated and developed at this time.
