Glory to our Fatherland |
'"Glory to our Fatherland", alternatively "Ode to Joy" was the name for the national anthem of the Kingdom of Eintrachtia, the overseas territories and colonies of Eintrachtia, and the Eintrachtian Commonwealth States. The tune is that of "Ode to Joy", the Forth Movement from the Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. The instrumental version of the song was officially adopted by the Eintrachtian Government on 10 December 2021, followed by the official lyrics on 22 April 2022. On 11 May 2024, in preparation for the seventh Eintrachtia day, parliament confirmed the official name for the national anthem of Eintrachtia is simply "Ode to Joy", relinquishing the lyrics and the name of "Glory to the Fatherland".
History
Adoption
The anthem was adopted in December 2021, it resembles the joy of independence and the proclamation of the Constitutional Republic. The Eintrachtian Republic has always been without an official anthem before the adoption of the chosen music; the Forth Movement, commonly called "Ode to Joy" from Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. The reason that the Government of Eintrachtia has chosen the anthem was said to be "widely known among the people of the world" and that "people sing it everyday, making the song unofficially represent the human race".
Lyrics
Both lyrics for Ode to Joy and Glory to our Fatherland could officially be sung when playing the national anthem until its relinquishment in 2024.
The lyrics adopted for Glory to our Fatherland are as follows:[1]
Rise, O voices of Eintrachtia,
God may we Thy bounty share. Give us strength to face all danger, And where challenge is, to dare. Guide us, Lord, to wise decision, Ever of Thy grace aware, Oh, let our hearts beat bravely always Glory to our Fatherland!
Bringing him your proud acclaim, Grandly echoing through the land, Rolling o'er the far flung plain. Roaring in the mighty rivers, Joining in one refrain grand, Ascending to the sunlit heavens, Glory to our Fatherland! |
