Foreign relations of Woodlandia
The Principality of Woodlandia is a friendly, peace loving nation, which openly engages in positive diplomatic relations with many nations around the world. Diplomatic foreign relations are implemented by the Woodlandia Foreign Affairs Office, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Power to grant official diplomatic recognition of sovereignty lies primarily with the sovereign Prince and occasionally, the Prime Minister with sovereign approval. Both can also grant recognition through a diplomatic treaty.
History
In March 2019, shortly before Woodlandia's claim of Independence was established, Prince Shawn (not using his royal title) had written a letter as a Canadian citizen, to a well known micronation called the Principality of Sealand. Proposed in the letter was an offer of consideration of possible services of diplomacy from Canada, unique advice and help on the further development of their nation, with a goal of helping to become a recognized state by other official nations. Also included in the letter, was a proposal from Prince Shawn to the Sealand government asking advice about micronations, and tips on how to further develop a micronation of his own (Principality of Woodlandia). However, Sealand did not reply to the letter. No further contact with Sealand by either, Prince Shawn, nor representatives of the Principality of Woodlandia have been carried out.
On 24 March 2019, Woodlandia received first contact from another micronation, when HRH the Sovereign Prince Shawn, was personally sent a letter by His Imperial Majesty, John I, King of Baustralia. Addressed in the letter by King John I, was a proposal of the use and adoption of a national Flag and a Coat of Arms, in which he (John I) had designed and specifically created as a gift to Sovereign Prince for the Principality of Woodlandia. After friendly talks, Prince Shawn accepted the gift from the King, and on 25 March 2019, the flag and coat of arms, had became the Principality of Woodlandia's first flag and first coat of arms, widely being accepted as the nations de facto symbols.
On 25 March 2019, Woodlandia was contacted by William I, King of Gradonia (then President William) about diplomatic relations. On 1 April 2019, after nearly five months of negotiating, HRH the Sovereign Prince Shawn and His Majesty William I of Gradonia agreed to the mutual recognition between nations, as well as the acceptance and use of each other's currencies, respectively.
After a brief period of slow foreign relations, Woodlandia began reaching out to other nations in hopes of developing positive diplomatic relations.
On 16 September 2019, HRH Prince Shawn wrote to the Head of the Diplomacy and Foreign Ministry of the Aerican Empire, and the Office of the Chancellor of the Kingdom of Ruritania, via official Facebook page.
On 17 September 2019, HRH Prince Shawn wrote to the Principality of Hutt River, Minister of Foreign Affairs about diplomatic relations between nations.
On 28 September 2019, HRH Prince Shawn wrote to the Prime Minister of the Empire of Austenasia about diplomatic relations between nations, as well as the acceptance and use of each other's currencies, respectively.
On 29 September 2019, HRH Prince Shawn wrote to the Department of State of the Commonwealth of Dracul, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Scotia, the Foreign Office of the Tsardom of Phokland, HSH Prince Charles of the Principality of Graustark, and because of lack of communication choices, a request of diplomatic relations through a citizenship application of the Democratic States of Etruscan Federation.
