The flag of Hansland is the national flag of the Kingdom of Hansland and the various territories that make up the Hanslandic Realm. Its design consists of a vertical triband of white (hoist-side and fly-side) and blue (double width) with a white disc centered on the blue band, a design commonly known as a Canadian pale. It was designed by Hanslandic monarch Carl I upon the establishment of the kingdom in 2020 and adopted by both houses of its parliament shortly thereafter. It is Hansland's most recognizable national symbol.
Several other flags created by Hanslandic officials, government agencies, and military branches contain the flags design, usually charged in the canton. The flag of Hansland is also used in the official government wordmark.
History
In 2019, Canadian micronationalist Carl Ó Gairbhith travelled to Grise Fiord on Ellesmere Island, Canada's northernmost inhabited region. He had long been fascinated by the history of nearby Hans Island which was situated in the Kennedy Channel between Ellesmere Island and Danish-controlled Greenland. At the time, the small uninhabited island was the subject of a long-running territorial dispute between Canada and Denmark, and it was during this visit that Carl had the idea to take advantage of its undetermined sovereignty by claiming it for himself.
The Kingdom of Hansland was established in 2020 with Carl proclaiming himself as its king and ruler of the disputed Hans Island. King Carl I quickly set about creating a national flag that would symbolize both Hans Island and the Arctic-themed culture of the new micronation.

Symbolism
The flag's design is in the style of a Canadian pale, inspired by its namesake, the flag of Canada. The white circle symbolizes Hans Island in the middle of the Kennedy Channel (blue) with the white bands on either side symbolizing Ellesmere Island (left) and Greenland (right). The color blue also represents dedication and bravery with white representing peace and purity. The flag is constitutionally required to have a ratio of 1:2, although a 2:3 ratio is sometimes used for unofficial purposes.

Use of the flag
The flag of Hansland can be flown by any private individual, organization, government agency, or military base during any time of day. It is a popular symbol for representing the country and its citizens both at home and abroad. When flying the flag, it should be flown from a flag pole and should not be inferior to other flags, with the exception of, in descending order, the Royal Standard, the Queen's personal standard, or any of the personal standards of members of the Hanslandic Royal Family.
Half-mast
The correct way to fly the flag at half-mast is two-thirds between the bottom and top of the flagstaff, with at least the width of the flag between the top of the flag and the top of the pole, on command of the reigning sovereign. Situations where the flag is required to be flown at half-mast include:
- Upon the announcement of the death of the Sovereign
- The day of the funeral of a member of the Royal Family
- The funeral of a foreign head of state
- The funeral of any citizen or government official of the Kingdom of Hansland
The flag can also be flown at half-mast for other reasons, at the discretion of the King or parliament.
