The National Flag of Etukan is the flag of the Empire of Etukan. It is a horizontal triband of pink (top), white (bottom) and black defaced with a black ring containing a wreath and a 16 point sun. It was chosen from a variety of similar designs by a national committee before Robert Smith edited the wreath in the chosen design slightly. Robert Smith's alternate design was selected as the new national flag shortly after.

History

The flag of Etukan was designed by the Emperor of Etukan with assistance from various Etukara civilians and government personnel, with its design process lasting most of November 2019. The flag's color scheme was appropriated from the flag of the pre-unification Kingdom of Patriam, of which the Emperor was previously king. Various designs similar to the final product were created during the process, with many being almost identical with the exception of the black ring in the center of the flag. There was much deliberation as to what would be put in the central ring, as its placement made it the most important detail of the flag and thus gave it the most value in terms of representing the values of Etukan. Initially, one popular design placed a silhouette of one of the towers of the Mosman Art Gallery as the centerpiece of the flag, representing a wealth of knowledge, with another using a dove, to represent peace, as was used in the flag of the Kingdom of Patriam. In the end, a flag utilizing a wreath, representing peace and stability, hoisting up a sun, which would represent the wealth and hope of the nation. The sun is notably an altered version of the logo of the Asian Games. Before being implemented, this final design was edited by the Emperor of Elysium, Robert Smith, so that the wreath filled up empty space in the top half of the central ring. Smith's redesign was supported by the Emperor, who implemented it as the new national flag on the 26th of November. On the 10th of August, 2021, Etukan's High Council passed the first-ever regulations for the design and construction of the flag in the "2021 Flag Act" officially changing the proportions of the flag to 2:3 and making the colours "easier on the eyes", as well as making the primary file used as a model for the flag much higher quality.

After the Emperor of Etukan, Zecheriah O'Hair, was crowned as Kaiser of the Yedinist Republic of New Prussia, he publicly issued the flag of the "Territories under the O'Hair Dynasty" as his personal standard. The banner featured four bars, two made up of the colours of Etukan, and two with the colours of Yedinist New Prussia, meeting at a central ring combining the colours of both nations, in the centre of which is the eagle of Prussia. Though the banner was not officially adopted by New Prussia, Etukan, or any other micronation under O'Hair's rule at the time, the flag has since become an unofficial Royal Standard in Etukan used to represent the Emperor, the Imperial Cabinet, or the Institution of the Monarchy as a whole. The flag, alongside the official standard of O'Hair in his capacity as Kaiser of New Prussia, was often used by diplomatic missions between New Prussia and Etukan as well as in the event of bilateral declarations, proclamations, or other events that involved the two until New Prussia went defunct in May 2021. The New Prussian Standard for its Kaiser is still occasionally used informally by Etukara civilians of former-New Prussia, as well as by more Nationalist groups in Etukan.
