Fianna was an autonomous republic in Sawdustistan, and formally a sovereign Micronation, but is currently a region in the Sawblast of South Sawdustistan. It is located in Central Ohio and takes up the southern region of Sawdustistan. It was founded and continuously led by Ethan Hendrickson.

Etymology

The name Fianna comes from the Irish word for deer, and it was chosen because of two factors. That initially there was a large Irish decedent population in Fianna and there is an abundance of deer within Fianna.

History

Originally, Fianna started as a fort in the woods maintained by Ethan and his friend Ryan in 2012. However, it took until July 2015 for the idea of making the fort into a Micronation came into Ethan's mind. Soon after the formation, Ethan recruited his friends Ryan, and Bryson to the idea. During the first few weeks progress was steady, a flag was made, small forts were built, and foreign relations were started with the newly founded Micronation of Staskhaikstan.

During their first month, the friendship between Ryan and Bryson ended because of an argument between Call of Duty and Splatoon on which game was more colorful. This resulted in Fianna being fractured and led to Ethan recruiting Jacob Folk and Xander to assist in operating the nation. Yet, the fracture between two of the top officials still made developing the nation difficult, resulting in stagnation for the next year and a half.

The year 2017 started strong with the acquisition of one of the largest forts in the area. The fort was owned by a foreigner named Joe, who dismantled most of the fort, but left the foundation and wood for Fianna. Later that year, on May 31, the constitution was ratified and Ethan was elected as the President of Fianna, who stayed in that position for the rest of Fianna's existence as a Micronation.

This new-found progress was set backed by two events. The first was an invasion from the sister of Xander to the south, which the nonexistent Fiannan military could not handle. Second was the succession of a new Micronation named Folkistan from Fianna, led by Jacob Folk. These two events dwindled Fianna's influence in the area and left it even more fractured. Ethan decided to temporarily disband the nation in late summer of 2017.

The Summer of 2018 had an attempt to revive Fianna with Ethan and Bryson attempting to construct a government building outside Folkistan. However, a group of child mercenaries armed with bows led by Joe's younger brother, Mickie, contested their claims over the woods. Ethan had to end the effort, since they still didn't have a military. Although in the final days of Summer of 2018, Ethan and Ryan tried to build one final fort before Ryan would relocate in the United States. The fort was never completed, leaving Ethan as the only active citizen.

Fianna would live on, though, not as an independent Micronation, but as a part of a highly potential Micronation in the same area. In January 2019, Ethan would merge his nation of Fianna with the nearby Micronation of Sawdustistan led by Armen Nazarian. Soon after joining, Ethan with the help of Armen would restructure the two stagnant Micronations into Republic of Sawdustistan. Once admitted into Sawdustistan Fianna was granted Autonomous Republic status to retain some sovereignty Fianna once had.

During its time in Sawdustistan, Fianna gained considerable influence within Sawdustistan. It gained several controllable acres of land much more than the other Sawblasts as well as gaining the most citizens since it was located near a populated neighborhood of Sawdustistan citizen, and the most national government officials elected from. Even with this influence and special status of Autonomous Republic, Ethan and the other Fiannan citizens focused on improving Sawdustistan than Fianna.

In 2021, Ethan relocated to Neosvetia a settlement nearby to Bushchland resulting in the territory of Fianna being split. A few months later, Fianna succeeded its territory and citizens to the new Sawblast of South Sawdustistan to help consolidate and lower the amount of administrative divisions in Sawdustistan and to reunite the Fiannan territory with Neosvetia. Resulting in the Fiannan government being disbanded after six years and the territory being organized into a region of Sawdustistan.
