The Empire of Som, more commonly known as Som or Bog Soma, is a micronation within Serbia, Montenegro and Republika Srpska. The Empire of Som is a absolute monarchy led by Emperor Petar I, it was formed in late March 2022 during the Som Uprising. The nation is categorized into 3 important areas known as Old Som, Danubis and the Adriatic Isles.

Som is an absolute hereditary mercantile monarchy it is completely led by the Emperor.

The Tsardom is a active nation in the micronational community, it has made contributions on the MicroWiki site and the discord server. Som is a part of multiple micronational organizations such as the Treskan League of States and the now disbanded Cross United alliance. The foreign policy of the Som is a very isolationist one, Som does not interfere in other nations matters unless there is a reason to.

Etymology

Som means catfish in Serbian, catfish are very commonly found near Serbia's rivers, the catfish is a symbol of wisdom in the Balkans. The demoynm of a person from Som is Somian.

History

The Empire of Som was founded in late March 2022 when a group founded by Petar I called Som started a rebellion against the Gusist Republic. The rebeliion eventually led to Som getting their independence. Som fought in the 3 Way War against the Gusists and won in early April 2022. Peace would remain in the state until the Gusists tried to gain independence in Quandaria the Som capital in June 2022. this led to Som military forces deporting the Gusists out of Quandaria this would spark the Quandaria War which Som lost. During July 2022 Som reformed and was able to start an attack on the Gusists during August 2022, a war knwon as the 2nd GuSom war would happen which would last from early August to August 29th 2022; Som would win the war. After the the victory and full deafeat of the Gusists, Som would form a large state known as the United Provinces of Bog Soma. Eventually after relative peace Bog Soma would enter into a confilt with the Republic of Aweland and BCMA Alliance, this would start the Soma-Aweland War, the war would last from Late September to Late October 2022. In the middle of the Soma-Aweland War Petar I would commit a military coup with the Bog Soma military, this sparked the start of the Junta. During late October 2022. Som would establish peace with Aweland and the BCMA but a revolution would start against the junta. The revolution went full force in early November 2022, the revolutionaries would win and would form a loose confederation of provinces known as the Som Confederation. During the times of the confederation Som would enter a time of relative peace and prosperity, from early November 2022 to Mid February 2023 the peace would last. During February 2023 nationalists led by Djordje L which would seek to reform the old glory of Som, this would spark a revolution which would end the confederation and bring back a state similar to the First Som State. This state would last for about a month until Petar I organized a group of Tsarists which would overthrow the nationalist government and form a theocratic absolute monarchy known as the Tsardom of Som. The Tsardom would eventually get into a conflict with the State of Hokoria which would spark the First Som-Hokorian War also know as the War of the Fish, the war would last from late March 2023 to Mid April 2023; the war ended with a ceasefire being agreed upon. Eventually Som would make an alliance with the Christian Empire of Terra-Dei and the Christian Republic of Kiskenia, with the help of the 2 nations the Cross United was formed in late May 2023. The Cross United (CU) started a crusade against the Kingdom of Faladia in late May 2023. The crusade was mostly successful and the CU ended it shortly after, the CU would cause all three states to reach a level of economic and military prosperity. Eventually tensions between Som and Hokoria started again, the Som would declare a crusade against the State of Hokoria and its allies because of degenerate behavior being shown by the Hokorian government. The CU joined the war and soon more nations started joining the crusade and the CU, but the crusade did not go well for the CU and it caused high instability in the nations involved (including Hokoria), after the Christian Republic of Kiskenia disbanded the crusade was declared over by the Som. After the failed crusade caused by large backing of Hokoria by the micronational community the CU informally disbanded. Som would have a revolution against Petar I due to economic collapse of Som due to sanctions and boycotting of Som by other micronations, for a short 3 days Tsar Jovan I lead the Som state until he was overthrown by a pro-Petar organization known as the Green Fish Commandos (GFC), the GFC put Petar I back on the throne and most GFC troops were incorporated into the Som Armed Forces (the GFC still remained as a smaller organization). Som would rebuild itself and enter into another age of prosperity. A short war with the Cornland Union and a raid on the Freistaat State happened but did not affect Som very much. Som change its name to the Empire of Som and Emperor Petar I became the first Emperor.

The the Grand Court of Som is the main court in the nation which is used for high profile cases, the rest of law is decided by the land owners who follow Som protocols from the state. Som practices some aspects of biblical law but also many aspects of modern law. Groups of laws are put into orders.

The Empire of Som uses the Somian Dollar. Which is still being developed.

The Somian military is divided into multiple different categories, the Som Armed Forces, Som Navy, Cyber Forces, and the Pretorian Guard.
