Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen, more commonly referred to as Halen, is a micronation that claims the town of Nantwich and other surrounding areas, in the county of Cheshire, United Kingdom. Halen is the birth and current residency of the Chairman and many Aelodau'r Corff Llywodraethu, the Members of the Governance Body. Halen is a socialist democratic state, being governed by the Plaid Ddemocrataidd Cymdeithasol a Llafur (Social Democratic and Labour Party) with Alexander M as Premier. Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen is presumably neutral as they haven't interfered externally with other micronations.

Etymology

Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen is Welsh, meaning "Socialist Sovereignty of Salt", or "Sovereignty of Salt." Nantwich, the Capital, was originally a salt mine during the medieval period.

History

Concept of Halen

Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen originally began as a secessionist movement, in early 2021. After seeing no progress was being made as a secessionist movement, in September 2022, Chairman Alexander decided to start referring to Halen as a micronation.

Beginning of current Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen

On 30 September 2022, Halen joined the Federation of Pangaea. As a result, on 23 May 2023, Halen gained at least 6 people, of which all were willing to get government positions. The membership of these few people was short-lived because of internal instability.

Current day

From August 2023, Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen is partly active. In this period, there have been discussions regarding a possible gain of citizens, but with little success. On 18 October 2023, Teyrnas yr Halen changed to a socialist style government and therefore changed its name from "Teyrnas" to "Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd" yr Halen.

Politics

Government

Halen's government is under a socialist democratic system. The Premier has a similar amount of power as Chairman Alexander. The Corff Llywodraethu, in the Corff Syniadau, who are responsible on the improvement of the country and laws, are typically Canton Rulers. The members of the Corff Cymeradwyaeth, responsible for the approval of the Corff Syniadau's decisions, are instead appointed by the Premier.

Chairman

The Chairman is the highest official within the state. They are elected for life, and they can be changed only after their death or on the situation of being unable to run the country, allowing the Parliament to choose the next Chairman. Their power is tied with the Premier, as they both have an equal share of power.

Premier

The Premier, or Brif Weinidog, is the Head of State and the second-highest official(s) within the state, and as of 16 January 2024, the title is currently held by Alexander M.

Head of Government

The Head of Government is currently William Pearson (who is also the Head of State Economics and Minister of Immigration) and is mainly responsible about domestic affairs.

Ministries

Mainly due to lack of citizenship, Halen, has very few ministerial positions.

Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defence is ran by Alex M, and is responsible for part time diplomacy if the Premier is unavailable. Halen is currently in an undeclared war with Denmark, Scotland and Türkiye.

Ministry of Immigration

The Ministry of Immigration, ran by William H. Pearson, is responsible for the entry and exit of people in Halen.

Political parties

Political Parties in Halen were conceptualized and encouraged to be created to establish democracy. For a long time, until the transition to socialism, only Plaid Ddemocrataidd a Blaengar was present, and under socialism, the leading party is Plaid Ddemocrataidd Cymdeithasol a Llafur.

Elections

Elections for the Premier in Sofraniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen are held three times a year, with the first term of elections held from 8 January until 16 January, the second term held from 9 May until 17 May, and the third term held from 8 September until 16 September. Therefore, each term of leadership for the Premier is supposed to be about 122 days each. If, in the case of a Premier resigning, an election will happen within the next 2 days, unless the next election term is on the week of resignation.

Canton Leaders

A Canton Leader is an Aelodau'r Corff Llywodraethu, and primarily would act as member of the Corff Syniadau, in the Corff Llywodraethu of Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen. Archie Blow is the only Canton Leader, being that of Nantwich Canton.

Currency and Economy

Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen's economy is in a very rump state, given there is no proper organization and management. Its currency is the Halener Quentine.

Head of State Economics

The Head of State Economics is responsible for the economy of Sofranniaeth Sosialaidd yr Halen. They manage exchanges rates, and how the money is spent, properly and fairly, unless deemed otherwise. Currently, this position is held by William Pearson.
