Music poetry and dance
Traditional music in Stan sounds like a blend of Pontic music and Tuvan throat singing, but many styles are welcome and shared. Stan is home to one group of pop stars, the Thereminions. Their shows are done in the dark under lasers and blacklights and their hair is fluorescent.
Poetry
I want to go to places in my mind... I asked the sun "Why do you shine?" He answered, "It was never up to me...why not be free...?" Refrain: Memories fade, soothsayers fail what does this earthly life entail?
The Hootie wrote Encounters and Explorations, two collections of poetry for adults and children.
Dance
Gümlat is the national dance of Stan and is a modified form of the Συρτός Συγκαθιστός, a folk dance from the region of Thrace in Greece. It begins by a 1/8 squat, followed by a left-to-right traced smile with the right foot, followed by the remainder of Συρτός Συγκαθιστός, repeating. On the Summer Solstice, immediately before Triball festivities, citizens and residents join in the Sundial dance, a modified form of Πάτημα, from Lemnos, danced exactly in reverse with a more pronounced swing of the foot symbolizing the passing second hand on a clock, with the shift of central dancer representing the passage of time more generally.
The Stani National Orchestra features:
Banjo, Strumstick, Hang, Cretan Lyra, Carbony Low D Whistle, PVC Bagpipe
National Songs: National Slow Song-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BE_u24hJm1A, National Fast Song-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFgSTtRoVlo
Bands:
There are lots of local bands particularly ethnic, particularly Greek. These include Lalima and Σεσημασμένοι.
A Roamin' lyrical fable
There once was a man named Stan who counted all his sheep on both hands and lived according to a holy plan there once was a man named Stan...
