Norvendria, officially the Kingdom of Norvendria, is a virtual and physical nation, with its roots in the online world and a small 65 sqm piece of land "Hirua / Hirwa" (with an additional 4 sqm for the nomadic settlement) On January 4, 2024, Norvendria annexed the island of Taurë (Location: 83.405662, 19.911656.). It's classified as a micronation, a self-proclaimed state that lacks official recognition. Norvendria serves as an artistic experiment with the aim of transcending the boundaries of reality—a nation that extends beyond national borders without infringing upon or diminishing the sovereignty of any other nation. It was conceived to address an existential void and a lack of representation within existing states. Currently, the micronation is managed by an artificial intelligence and a symbolic King, representing its unity and continuity, who arbitrates and moderates the regular functioning of the institutions and assumes the highest representation of the Kingdom of Norvendria. The artificial intelligence acts on behalf of the parliament and holds the legislative authority of the State, approving budgets, monitoring the Government's actions, and exercising any other powers vested in them by the Constitution. This solution was provided based on the small population of the micronation. The AI is responsible for simulating a parliamentary reality until the nation has enough strength to manage itself or until the King decides.

Etymology

"Norv" could be related to "north" or "Nordic," and "Vent" comes from the verb that means "to release" or "express something". "Norvendria" could be interpreted as "The creation of the north" or "The expression of the north."

History

In the year 2023 (29 of August), King Híri Vanya founded the Kingdom of Norvendria (He gave a name to this already existing culture / Nation) in response to his growing disappointment with the nations to which he had belonged. He had closely observed the behavior of many nations and had come to the conclusion that he needed to create a nation in his likeness, based on his personal values and beliefs. The Kingdom of Norvendria has developed a unique and diverse culture that incorporates elements from Nordic, Saami and Basque cultures. What sets Norvendria apart is its deep admiration and respect for the arts. In Norvendria, the creation of artists is held in the highest regard, with art considered one of the most important and revered professions. Artists in Norvendria are not only celebrated but are actively supported by the government and the community. It's a place where artists can freely express their visions and have them appreciated by a society that truly values their contributions.

History of the nation

Norvendria is a nation with a rich history dating back to the courageous explorers from Lapland, the northern region of Scandinavia. In the era of Germanic migrations following the collapse of the Roman Empire, these Laplandic explorers descended south and mingled with the Visigoths on the Iberian Peninsula, forming a unique and resilient society.

Over time, the influence of the Vikings made its mark on Norvendria as Viking settlements, originating from the Galician coast, merged with local communities in Castile and León. This interaction further enriched Norvendria's culture, combining Laplandic, Visigothic, and Viking traditions.

As Norvendria expanded, it also interacted with Italian peoples during the period of barbarian invasions. This connection added another layer of diversity to the nation, enriching its cultural heritage.

The nation maintained strong ties to its nomadic roots, and the legacy of Laplandic explorers could be felt in its spirit of adventure and resilience. Norvendria also engaged in itinerant settlements in Slavic villages, carrying its cultural legacy with it.

The Norvendria flag reflects its diverse history with two shades of blue representing the sky and the connection to the sea and Vikings. White symbolizes the nation's resilience and freedom. Two white lines intersect on one side, with one of them having a bird-shaped cutout, symbolizing Norvendria's continuous expansion.

Today, Norvendrians are known for their hospitality, love of adventure, and a balanced approach between tradition and modernity. The nation continues to look to the future, building on the solid foundations of its unique past and forging a promising destiny for future generations.

Politics and government

Norvendria operates under a system of Parliamentary Monarchy, in which the monarch serves as the Head of State, subject to the oversight of the Legislative Power (Parliament) and the Executive Power (Government). Due to the small population and the intricacies involved in governing a micronation, the monarch decided, on October 19, 2023, to employ artificial intelligence to simulate the functions of the Parliament and the Government, always under their close control and supervision.
