The Ljetzan eOberliga known as the Rundfunk Oberliga for sponsorship reasons, is the official esports football tournament which takes place annually from March to October in Ljetzan since 2022.
Rapid Ljtzan Esports are the current champions, winning a record-breaking third title in 2024.
History
In 2022, it was decided to found the first football league in Ljetzan. Still, given the small population of the principality does not allow the formation of any professional football club, the Ljetzan Football Association decided to establish an online championship and open registrations to citizens holding a valid citizenship certificate to start the first Esports competition.
In the first season, there were 6 players, representing six different teams, to which in 2024 were added Ljetzan United and FC Revolt bringing the total number of players and teams to 8.
On 18 November 2024, the organizers announced two new teams joining the league next season, bringing the total number of players to 10.
Since the start, the LFA has been using EA Sports games to host the tournament.
Format
The championship will be made up of 8 teams and be split into an Opening Round and a Closing Round in a way that is similar to footballing systems used in South America.
The Eröffnung will see each of the 8 teams play each other once before the best three team in the league take part in a playoff knockout stage to determine the champion of the round. Once the ranking is set, each team will return to 0 points and start from scratch in the Abschluss, where the same process will be repeated.
The two winning teams of their respective tournaments then compete in the Prinz eCup to decide the overall champion of the Ljetzan eOberliga.
Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss.
