The Great Bengal Confederacy, more commonly known as Bangalah, is a self declared unrecognised sovereign nation in South Asia. It is surrounded by India from the west, Nepal, China and Bhutan from the north, Myanmar from the east and Bay of Bengal from the south. It declared independence with a view to free the libertarian people from the imperialist hegemony of India.
Bangalah has a confederal structure of government where each state has absolute self governance power over it's territory in all aspects except military and foreign relations, which are handled by the confederal house. The form of government is different in each state. Bangalah has no relation with broader micronational movement yet and it's foreign policy in unclear.
Etymology
The origins of the term Bangalah are unclear, with theories pointing to a Bronze Age proto-Dravidian tribe, and the Iron Age Banga Kingdom. The earliest known usage of the term is the Nesari plate in 805 AD. The term Bangalah is found in 11th-century South Indian records. The term gained official status during the Sultanate of Bengal in the 14th century. Shamsuddin Ilyas Shah proclaimed himself as the first "Shah of Bangalah" in 1342. The word Bangāl became the most common name for the region during the Islamic period. 16th-century historian Abu'l-Fazl ibn Mubarak mentions in his Ain-i-Akbari that the addition of the suffix "al" came from the fact that the ancient rajahs of the land raised mounds of earth in lowlands at the foot of the hills which were called "al". This is also mentioned in Ghulam Husain Salim's Riyaz-us-Salatin.
History
When Indian imperialist conspiracies went too far that it became a threat to the sovereignty of Bangladesh, Sultan Ul 'Ahlamistan Muhammad Sheikh Ishtiak bin Mortuza declared independence of Great Bengal Confederacy in order to take a clear stand against it.
Politics and government
The confederal government is formed with a representative of each of the member states, usually the head of states. Representatives of the member states of the Bengal Federation are also member of the confederal cabinet, "Shahi Mojlish", but Chancellor of Bengal Federation (who is also the Chancellor of the Confederation) can change their votes. He also has the power of tiebreaker, but not veto.
