The Ljetzan Flag is the official civil and state flag of the Principality of Ljetzan, and one of the most important symbols of the country.

Description and symbolism

The design of the flag incorporates a red Nordic cross, which is offset to the left. The red cross is fimbriated black and is set on a white field. The flag design closely resembles that of the Faroe Islands, with the fimbriated cross and the white background.

White symbolizes the creators of the flag, the purity of the Alps, and the snow surrounding the principality, while the old Ljetzan's black and red colors are reminiscent of the Cimbrian traditions and the colors of the armies that protected the ancient territories during the Venetian rule.

Colours

The specific colours of the flag are defined in the Royal Decree of 2021

History

The modern Ljetzan flag was devised in 2020 by Prince Peter and others while they were studying abroad. The first time the flag was raised in the Principality of Ljetzan was on 25 July that year in Ljetzan City on the occasion of the national day. The original flag is displayed in the church of Ljetzan as a gift to the population by the prince.
