It is the busiest airport in Agatonia. It is the largest airport in Agatonia in terms of size, having an area of 1.53 square metres. It is located directly southwest from Kangarooville City, in the Airport District in the prefecture of Kangarooville Metropolitan City. Despite Agatonia's small size, Empress Sachiko I International Airport has one runway, being approximately 2 metres long from Southwestern to Southeastern Kangarooville.
Empress Sachiko I International Airport opened on 1 July 2024 as Kangarooville International Airport. Directly after its establishment, Kangarooville International Airport saw civilian use only. Also, it was decided that Kangarooville International Airport was to become the primary airport of Agatonia. Later, it was decided to change the airport's name to Empress Sachiko I International Airport, named after the Agatonian Head of State, Empress Sachiko I.
History
Establishment
Empress Sachiko I International Airport was originally named Kangarooville International Airport at its founding. At the airport's founding, Agatonian Air was founded too. Agatonian Air had decided to set its hub at Kangarooville International Airport. MicroAviation also set up its hub at Kangarooville International Airport.
National and international flights
Shortly after the airport's establishment, Kangarooville International Airport had its destinations only inside Mainland Agatonia. However, President Kaito I decided to let Agatonian Air fly outside Agatonia from 14 July 2024, with the reason being that the Agatonian Royal Family will be flying to Japan on that day.[2]
Name change and expansion
On 9 July 2024, it was decided to change Kangarooville International Airport's name to Empress Sachiko I International Airport, named after Agatonia's Head of State, Empress Sachiko I.[3] On that same day, it was decided that Empress Sachiko I International Airport would expand its area double its size. This vote was supported by a 2-0-0 vote, served by President Kaito I and Empress Sachiko I.
Facilities
The 16.46 square feet (1.53 m2) of land occupied by the airport is more than one and a half times the size of La Cambria (1.32 square metres or 14 square feet). SCJ is larger in land area than all Agatonian state capital city urban areas. SCJ occupies the largest amount of commercial airport land area in Agatonia, by a great extent. On 9 July 2024, it was decided that Empress Sachiko I International Airport would expand its area double its size. The previous area occupied by the airport was 8.23 square feet (0.765 m2).
