New Canada, officially the Empire of New Canada, is a sovereign state located in North America.
The nation declared its independence on 3 August 2024. The official language of New Canada is German and English. The Empire is a constitutional monarchy where the sovereign technically exercises power in concert with other institutions.
New Canada is officially bilingual at the federal level, using the German and English languages on signs and official documents however the government operates completely in German.
Since the establishment of the Empire of New Canada in 2024, New Canada has been a constitutional monarchy. New Canada declared independence from Canada by a movement lead by the actual State Chancellor and a few others. This movement would later hold a conference which pushed for an empire to be created and on 9 August 2024, New Canada was formed.
History
Early development
Independence
On 7 August 2024, it was established that the form of government would be a Empire with Mark as the Emperor who would take on the regnal name of Mark of New Canada. After a week of writing, the Declaration of independence was officially signed by the State Chancellor of New Canada, as his first act in office.
Politics
Government
According to the Constitution, New Canada is governed under a constitutional monarchy, with His Majesty the Emperor as Head of State. The executive power is exercised by the State Chancellor as the Head of Government, who presides over the Government Council. The prerogative to propose and promulgate laws belongs to the Emperor, while the Reichstrat gets to modify and adopt them. This shared legislative power is also applied for every revision of the Constitution.
Paloma is a kingdom with 10 provinces and three territories.
The federal government comprises three branches:
- Legislative: The bicameral Reichstrat, made up of representatives of the provinces, makes federal law, approves treaties and can impeach government members with approval of the President of the Reichstrat.
- Executive: The Emperor is the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Forces, can veto legislative bills before they become law and other powers more marked by the New Canadian Constitution. The State Chancellor, currently Eliot Carrier, is the Head of the Government of New Canada.
- Judicial: The Supreme Court, whose judges are appointed by the Emperor, interpret laws and overturn those they find unconstitutional.
The Reichstrat has ten voting members, each representing a province. Reichstrat seats belong to the representatives of each province which are de jure elected by the provincial citizens. Each state recives around one seat unless the population of the province is over 5. The Reichstrat also has seats for its territories which act as non-voting members during meetings.
Foreign relations
New Canada adheres to the declarative theory of statehood, every states that have a defined territory, a permanent population, a government and the capacity to enter in relation with other micronational states is de facto recognized by New Canada. The Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs maintains a list of states which received official mutual recognition from New Canada.

New Canada is located in North America and is completely surrounded by Canada.

Economy
New Canada does have a sustainable economy. The Empire is entirely independant on the Canadian Economy.
Taxes
New Canada has a 5% value-added tax (VAT) on most goods and services. Prices are normally presented with the included VAT. There is no income tax on citizens.
Currency
The official currency of New Canada is the Canadian Dollar.
Because of the close proximity of New Canada with USA, the Dollar are both accepted for affairs in the following provinces, Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba.
Stamps
New Canada Post is responsible for the emission of postage stamps in the Empire of New Canada and plays an important part in the economy and diplomatic affairs of the nation. The sale of stamps represent one of the main source of income for the Empire. Although the Empire has its own postage administration, it relies on Canada Post and American Post for the mailing of letters and packages.
Tourism
Tourism in New Canada is organized by New Canada Tourism and by the Federal State Department of Immigration. To enter in the Empire you need a visa or a passport.

Language
The Constitution determines that German, French and English are the official languages of the Empire.
Religion
New Canada is a secular state and the monarch does source its power from God. By sourcing its power from the Constitution and God, the Empire is unique in this way that it's a secular monarchy. The Empire and the Emperor guarantees the freedom of religion.
Culture
The culture of New Canada is heavily influenced by German, French and British culture.
National symbols
The Imperial Flag and the Imperial Coat of Arms are the only national symbols specifically mentioned in the Constitution. Other symbols such as the national and imperial anthem are determined by law.
Coat of arms
The Imperial Coat of Arms of New Canada is the symbolic representation of the House of Huet, the current reigning house of New Canada. It is the most commonly used symbol in New Canada, being present on almost every official documents. The official signature of the government features the smaller version of the coat of arms.
