Draft:Economy of the Benereich

The Benereich has a large economy for a micronation, based primarily on the sale of freelance and contractual labour. The Benereich maintains a policy of autarky, as there have been many instances where The Republic has been beset from all foreign trade during conflict. This has led to low exports, as well as low imports. The Benereich maintains a constant surplus of military equipment that it is willing to lease or sell outright, as well as mercenaries that are hired for economic purposes as well as in-field training opportunities.

The Benereich has no Economics Minister, as it prides itself on not embroiling itself in unnecessary bureaucracy. The role and responsibility traditionally held by an Economics Minister falls under the Minister of Internal Affairs; a position currently held by Wesley von Dookington.

Benerian GDP, Exports, & Imports

The Benerian GDP and Trade statistics are in a state of flux due to the Benerian Census not being taken since 2022. Current estimates track the GDP as much higher than what is listed, due to increasing employment and production over the years.

State Owned Industry

The Republic of the Benereich maintains ‘The Big Four’ companies that the state is a majority shareholder in. They have major influence in The Benereich, but serve the Government:

State-Owned Enterprises in The Benereich
Name Purpose Logo/Emblem
Lenheed Martin Lenheed Martin is the Benereich Aeronautics and Space Company. It controls all non-military Benerian air assets and also works closely with the Benerian Air Force to provide cutting-edge equipment for use in the defence of freedom.
Echo Arms Co. Echo Arms Co. is one of the oldest companies to exist in the Benereich, and is the oldest state-owned business by far. It provides ammunition, small and large arms, and also is the technical primary stakeholder for Benerian Research and Development.
Blitz Ltd. Blitz Ltd. exists as the Benereich’s governor valve. As the Benerian military is totally dominant in all aspects when compared to other micronations in Tauranga, Blitz Ltd. allows otherwise unused military assets to generate revenue by involving themselves in the spread of democracy elsewhere.
Liberty Entertainment Liberty Entertainment (Formerly Rikler Entertainment), is the Benereich's only state-owned media enterprise. It provides Benerians with access to the news (Benereich Channel 1) and other cultural ventures deemed beneficial for the population to be exposed to.

These companies, as state-owned enterprises, are managed jointly by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Defense.

Taxes

The Benreich has no standing tax rate in peacetime, but by law can call on ‘contributions’ of both capital and resources during states of emergency that can reach whatever amount deemed necessary, thus preventing it from becoming a tax haven.

Currency

The official currency of The Benereich is the Golden Eagle, but the New Zealand dollar (NZD) is commonly used for transactions outside of The Republic and so subsequently most Benerian banks and citizens accept the NZD as a valid substitute. The Benerian Golden Eagle is recognized exclusively within the Benereich.

The Golden Eagle is the currency used by the Republic of the Benereich. The Golden Eagle may be represented in two separate ways, one is the physical Golden Eagle and Silver Lion forms of currency which are, instead of the more common floating currencies used by the Western world, pegged to the exact value of the United States Dollar (USD). However, their digital form (stored in the banking system 'War Thunder') has a fixed value of 0.0066; due to this extremely low, and subsequently hard to calculate quickly, value it is usually rounded up to the following denominations (displayed on the Gajin.net website)

Commonly used digital denominations of Golden Eagles, and their conversion rates:
USD GE
0.0066 1
0.99 150
6.60 1000
16.50 2500
33 5000
66 10000

Due to this system, it is common for the separate forms of Golden Eagles to have their own acronyms: GED representing the digital variant of the Golden Eagle and GEP, or usually just GE, to represent the physical form of currency.

The term Golden Eagle arises from the Benereich's national animal, the golden eagle. The term Silver Lion derives from the medal ranking system used by the Olympics, with silver coming before gold. The Lion was an animal picked from as a result of the first and current Benerian King Bendolf’s former association with the British Republic .

The most commonly seen unit in the Benereich is the GE1, as they are the most plentiful coin and thus the best for paperweights and other recreational activities. The GE10 is the largest unit currently in circulation and is used for especially opulent paperweights. The most commonly traded units are the SL1 and SL5, as they are both useless as paperweights due to their lighter weight and so can only be used for economic purposes. The GE100 is not in circulation in the Benereich due to inflation concerns, although rumours persist that one GE100 was minted and allowed into the market. This coin is known as the "One Piece" by The Republic .

When the golden eagle was first decided upon as the Benereich's national currency, it was known that they would need to replace the now-obsolete former currency endorsed: the Warthunder Jet. At the time, this seemed like a daunting challenge. However, due to hyperinflation in the Warthunder Jet market, Golden Eagles were able to become the new currency. To combat the hyperinflation that plagued the previous tender, the Benereich made incrementally smaller subunits, such as the SL1 and SL5, instead of the likes of the WJ20,000 that was seen in the past.

The Golden Eagle and Silver Lion are less valuable than the material they are made out of, and so are effectively worthless as anything other than a paperweight. This is by and large due to The Republic treating the destruction of legal tender as a crime, so those who come into possession of GE cannot melt the coin down to sell the far more valuable metal it is made out of. They are, for security reasons, the only tender available for dealing with and within the Benerian Armed Forces, making them vital in certain situations.
