The Federation of Discordia, more commonly known as Discordia, is a micronational organisation. Originally founded as a general-use community server on 11 November 2023, the administration voted to declare a micronation on 26 August 2024. As of 28 September 2024, Discordia currently stands with over 11 member-states with a combined population of approximately 3,600. It was announced on 30 September 2024 that Discordia would acquire all members and operations from the Intermicronational Organisation and the Intermicronational Defense Treaty, declaring itself a 'global coalition'.

Discordia, true to the name, operates entirely on the social media and communication platform known as Discord, with servers acting as individual members. All member-states are permitted to act autonomously and conduct governance through their respective administrations, so long as they continue to participate in the Federation's macro-governance structure. Discordia has two houses of government, known as the Senate and the Consul; each member-state is permitted 2 seats on the Consul and 1 seat on the Senate. How each member-state determines their seat is up to the discretion of their administrations, although the Federation recommends a democratic vote. All meetings take place in Crypt, the Capitol of Discordia. Both houses, as well as Crypt, are led by an administrative body known as the Royals.

Discordia takes a strong stance in favor of the micronational movement. Jacob W. Royster, the 1st High King of the Federation of Discordia, has stated that "no man shall be complete without the foundation of a land that's truly his; free of malice and free from scorn". The Federation has worked alongside other micronational organisations, such as the Inter-Server Treaty Organisation, the Micronational Alliance, and the League of Nations to assemble what they believe to be the future of micronationalism- a 'body of independent states that recognize and acknowledge the claims represented by their efforts on a global scale'.

History

The Kingdom Arc (2021-2022)

Discordia has had a long and controversial history, having originally been founded in December 2022 as the now-defunct Kingdom of the Sun, a satellite to a different community based around the hit Japanese shoot-em-up franchise Touhou Project. The Kingdom of the Sun was led by content creator Jacob Royster, streamer Dan Tansky, and a nameless v-tuber known as the Fridge Goddess. It would then struggle to find its identity under various leaders, rebranding to MAXLVL on 1 January 2023, then to Roystercord in 19 March 2023, then to Inabacord on 1 April 2023, and finally to the Kingdom of Man on 25 May 2023, where it found a relative peace in the operation of tabletop RPG campaigns.

The First Dark Age (2023)

On 24 August 2023, former associates from real-world groups and online communities establish a long-term campaign to raid Discordia, delete all records of user activity and creative projects, and publish a series of doxxing attempts towards the leaders of the Kingdom of Man, resulting in the termination of at least 2 members' employments and threats made, on and offline, on the lives of those leaders. This campaign would persist until 10 October 2023, wherein the attackers revealed themselves to be a pact made between bad actors in the community and anonymous users from /v/, a board on 4chan, who had a complicated past with former members of the Kingdom of the Sun. Confusion ensued, and apologies were later issued by both sides.

On 27 October 2023, the conflict effectively ended after the events of the 2023 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, when /v/ lost to /vg/ in the Group Stage and /mlp/, a popular fandom in the Kingdom of Man's community at the time, placed 2nd. This would be the last time the Kingdom of Man ever affiliated with or came into contact with 4chan, declaring "Total Horse Victory".

The Three Siblings War (2023)

At the same time, on 10 October 2023, Jacob Royster, now under the pseudonym 'Beefcake', had been called to arms by the Anti-Incest Association, led by King Brouly the Untamed, and the Land of Two, led by President Shtuffs, to investigate a community server based around the indie visual novel The Coffin of Andy and Leyley due to allegations and claims from nearly two-dozen users of racism, grooming, pedophilia and other tangential acts. On 29 October 2023, 'Beefcake' was promoted to Head Administrator in this server, allowing him to plant a network of loyalists and spies in various roles, such as community engagement, event management, and server moderation.

On 11 November 2023, a document was published revealing the full extent of the claims made the month prior, complete with pages of screenshots allegedly detailing the owner's knowledge and active involvement. The handling of the situation was received negatively, sparking a war between all four servers; displaced refugees and freedom fighters came together with former members of the Kingdom of Man to create a new movement, and at 11:11 PM CST, 'Coffincord' was created, gathering over 300 members in 15 days.

The Three Siblings War ended on 28 November 2023, when many individuals named in the document verified the claims, issued public apologies to their members, and resigned. Coffincord holds a celebration that lasts for two days straight, then announces they will cease operation and distance themselves from the effort, officially becoming the nation-state of the Crypt. The names of each member would not change after this.

The Second Dark Age (2023-2024)

According to Royster, efforts to rehome and relocate all members after the Three Siblings War "ended up being harder than winning the war". A significant amount of users participated in acts that were equally as deranged as what the Crypt initially sought to prevent, and on 9 January 2024, a mass exodus of over 100 low-quality members took place, later referred to as the Great Degenerate Massacre or the First Beefening. This would start a periodic series of ban waves that, according to former Senator Damg (then His Royal Highness Prince Damg of Astoria), "trimmed the fat and apperently [sic] separated the weak from the strong".

On 12 January 2024, Crypt announces a lengthy series of rule changes, premieres a Japanese-style AI-powered mascot known as Crypt-Chan, then launches a national eSports initiative with teams participating in Minecraft, Clash of Clans, and Clash Royale. This drives more activity from underrepresented populations, and after a year rife with asylum-grade controversy and internet drama, the Second Dark Age draws to a close.

The Empire Arc (2024)

The Crypt experiences a significant increase in user activity and approval, reaching 51 reviews and becoming the third-highest rated Discord server in the world (according to aggregated results on DISBOARD, DiscordTree, and Top.gg). Preparations ensue to turn Crypt into a micronational organisation and amplify its presence in the Discordian ecosphere.

  • On 2 February 2024 at 1:13 PM CST, the Afterhour Club is founded for verified users above the age of 18.
  • On 13 July 2024 at 9:30 PM CST, the Phantasm is founded with a unique system that deletes all messages after 24 hours and replaces the name of each user with a number.
  • On 12 August 2024 at 7:59 PM CST, the Catacomb is founded for the operation of tabletop RPG discussion, campaign hosting, and competitive play.
  • On 27 August 2024 at 1:45 PM CST, Jacob Royster announces the Federation of Discordia with 9 founding member-states among a litany of programs to improve user quality and engagement.
  • On 04 October 2024 at 8:40 PM CST, Maso trades Chill-Void, a general-use community server turned-micronation, to Royster in exchange for political power in the Federation. After a brief revolt, Chill-Void votes to become the Principality of the Void.

You do not need this section unless your micronation previously recognized states that are now defunct. Format this list like the other three above.

Administrative regions

Explain your nation's claim system, and the various types of constituencies your nation may have, for example, the difference between a district and a territory. It is preferred that you do not discuss each constituency in this section. Instead, the names of each constituency in the table should be linked to their own separate articles. You can add and remove columns as you wish, but generally, include fields for the flags (which should be kept small, at most 100px wide (less if more rows listed) and have a border), name, and important fields such as area, population, governor and/or representative (or equivalent position). You do not need to include a column for a seal, flag, or coat of arms for each constituency if it they do not have one.

Geography and climate

This is an example of a picture in your article. Pictures make an article look a lot better, more informative and more interesting. Ideally, images should not be larger than 200 pixels in width.

Use this section to write about the flora, fauna, terrain, climate, weather, and location of your micronation. A good template for listing annual temperature data is {{Weather box}}.

Economy

Insert fiscal information, such as the micronation's exports, imports, and industries. You can briefly discuss the micronation's currency but that should generally be kept in a separate article.

Culture

Insert information about the micronation's holidays, customs, education, spoken languages, arts, the press, and television here.

Holidays

It is recommended to use the following table for holidays. It should go without saying that the provided holiday is merely an example.

Date Name Remarks
1 January Unix Epoch Time day A day honoring Unix time since the beginning of the Unix epoch on 1 January 1970.
