The Dancing Leaf Commune, more commonly known as Dancing Leaf, or DLC is a micronation in North America. It was formed by a group of teenagers in North Palm Beach, Florida, and has grown to encompass all of South Florida. The Dancing Leaf Commune has no official borders, and is instead a "nation of its people."
The Dancing Leaf Commune maintains an anarchist method of governance, with a direct democracy in a communal environment. Although, the Dancing Leaf Commune is rather erratic in its enforcement.
The Dancing Leaf Commune has no diplomatic relations with any nations or micronations. The Dancing Leaf Commune remains neutral in all world affairs.
Etymology
The Dancing Leaf Commune gets its name from the group of teenagers that formed it. The story goes that the founders were intoxicated while walking to a part of a forest where they often smoked. The name was thought of seemingly out of the blue, and it stuck.
History
The Dancing Leaf Commune saw its origins in North Palm Beach, Florida. A group of teenagers would frequently hangout at designated "smoke spots." These "smoke spots" were often secluded, overgrown areas where they wouldn't be seen. During one of these hangouts, a discussion was had about the formation of a tribe, and out of that, the DLC was born.
The Dancing Leaf Commune has seen strife after strife. Internal politics gradually tore the young micronation apart. After a brief period of separation, the DLC eventually reached an uneasy peace, which later became the "era of peace," a period of time that the micronation is still considered under.
Foreign relations
The Dancing Leaf Commune has no foreign relations with any state, nation, or organization, except for an unofficial relationship with the United States. Communards regularly interact with American citizens, and travel between the DLC and the United States frequently.
Geography and climate
The Dancing Leaf Commune shares the subtropical climate of South Florida. The DLC is made up of mostly flat regions. Plenty of lakes and palm trees can be found.
Economy
The Dancing Leaf Commune has no official currency, or economy. Any transactions that occur typically occur in USD, and are done on the individual level.
Culture
Culturally, the Dancing Leaf Commune is incredibly diverse. The DLC has several different racial groups, and is considered "very accepting" to new cultures and people groups.
Although, like any other teenage friend group, cliques and factions will often form. The web of cliques and factions is constantly changing and will often cause minor internal conflicts. These are usually resolved after all involved parties stop caring.
