The Atlantean Cupron, known as Cupron, is the official currency of the Atlantean Federal Republic. It was created on 16 March 2023.
Etymology
The name "Cupron" was derived from latin "cuprum", which meant "copper". It was named so because the original Atlantean coins were made of copper.
The name "Safiro" was derived from greek "ζαφείρι" (Romanization: zafeiri), which meant "sapphire".
Units
The Cupron was partially correlated to the United States dollar, with exchange rate approximately equal to $1:₡14. A Safiro is designated to equal to 1/10 of a Cupron.
History
It was created by Rovianastor Slant on 16 March 2023. His proposal was not supported by the members of the congress then, seeing that the currency will not have any real value after creation. However, Slant modified his original proposal and it was eventually passed in the next Congress section. It was ratified under the Act number 15, the Currency Act.
Coins and Banknotes
Coins and banknotes are designed but not actually printed. The portraits on coins are mainly scientists, including Stephen Hawking and Nikola Tesla. On banknotes, the portraits are people who contributed to the country, including Rovianastor Slant and Brian LeBlear.
Value
The values of the Cupron and Safiro are backed by the national reserve of Atlantis. The value of a Cupron is designated to be 1/10000 of the national reserve or 1/14 of a USD, whichever is lower. The current national reserve of Atlantis is 1020 USD.
