The Dominion of New England is a self-declared British Crown Dominion of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and Her respective Heirs. The DNE aspires to become a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The Dominion of New England views itself as the rightful and nonconsecutive successor to the Dominion of New England that existed from 1686 to 1689.
History
Founding and History
The Dominion of New England was founded by John D. Andrews in 2019 as an anti-republican, pro-monarchy state and secessionist movement. Andrews, a proud New Englander and devout monarchist, believed that the American Revolution was a mistake, and an unlawful act of treason against the true Lords of New England, the British Crown. Andrews is a member of the Church of New England, an Anglican Church established as the State Church of the DNE. The Dominion was also founded on historical example. Andrews formed the DNE as the second establishment of the Dominion of New England. Andrews highlights the importance of liberty, as was highlighted by the original settlers of New England. However, Andrews viewed American style “liberty” to be less Democratic and less uniting and fulfilling than that of constitutional monarchy.
John Andrews is an advocate and organiser of Androsism, the main political ideology of the Conservative Loyalist Party of New England. Androsism is named after the legendary leader of the original DNE, Sir Edmund Andros, and is based on his conservative, traditionalism, pro-Anglican, loyalist and centralised policies.
Politics and government
The Parliament of the Dominion of New England is the unitary governing and legislative body of the DNE. The Parliament is made up of two houses, the upper house known as the Council of New England, and the lower house known as the House of Commons. The Governor-General & Viceroy, known more commonly as the Viceroy of New England, is the viceregal representative of the Monarch of New England. The Viceroy is usually appointed by the Monarch with advice from the Prime Minister, although in the absence of the Monarch, the outgoing Viceroy chooses their successor with advice from the Prime Minister. Currently, there is no established constitutional term length for the Viceroy, who serves at Her Majesty’s pleasure. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, currently holds the title of “Queen of New England” and is recognized as the chief Head of State of the DNE. The Crown is represented by the Viceroy, who acts as Monarch in place of the Monarch, performing all duties granted to the Monarch. The Council of New England is made up of 12 members, or 2 members from each state, which are known as Lord Councillors. Lord Councillors are appointed by the Viceroy, usually under the advice of the Prime Minister, although this rule is not always binding. Lord Councillors are eligible to serve until death or resignation, although they must face re-appointment at the age of 75. The Council of New England is responsible for approving bills passed by the House of Commons, before the bill reaches the desk of the Viceroy, who decides whether or not to grant the bill Royal Assent. The House of Commons is made up of MPs representing each district of the DNE. MPs serve a maximum term of 1 year before they are put for reelection. The party that holds the most seats in the House of Commons sends their elected leader to serve as Prime Minister.
