Doán, officially the Principality of Doán(Español: Principado de Doán),is a sovereign city-state and micronation on the Iberian Peninsula, in Western Europe. Doán is a landlocked country, enclaved by Spain. With an area of 97 m2 (116'01 yd2)the principality is home to 2 residents.

The principality is governed under a form of constitutional monarchy, with Prince Fernando I as head of state. Although Prince Fernando I is a constitutional monarch, he wields immense political power.

History

Early history

The current Principality of Doán was in ancient times a territory belonging to the province of Hispania of the Roman Empire. For centuries, this territory, geographically removed from European strategic interests, contributed little to the history of the continent. Before becoming a Principality, the history of the region is linked to that of the Kingdom of Aragon, the Crown of Aragon and the Kingdom of Spain.

Barony of the Tower of Doán

Doán was refounded in 2012 by a spanish knight named Leandro of Doán. He built a tower in abandoned territories and began to style himself "Baron of the Tower of Doán".

On December of this year Leandro of Doán sold this possession and the title to a kgnith named Fernando for 88.400 euros.

Principality of Doán

On January 15, 2019, the Baron of the Tower of Doán declares himself the sole sovereign of his fiefdom, becoming independent of any other sovereign power and elevating it to the category of Principality with the name of Principality of Doán.
