Cleveland, officially the Free City of Cleveland is an independent city-state. It was previously an unincorporated Monovish colonial territory from October 10, 2013 and a khanate of Nedland until February 9, 2017.
Since May 25, 2017 Cleveland is an Imperial Estate of the Holy Roman Empire, led by Quentin I of Wyvern.
History
Cleveland was founded on July 15, 2013, by then Ashukov Prime Minister Edward Jacobs as a side project and a political polygon for the Akharnian government.
On July 19, 2013, upon Emperor Manu II of Mouzilo's proposal, Cleveland joined Hasanistan and Mouzilo to establish Kekropia, a newly formed Federation. Kekropia dissolved on August 7, 2013, leaving Cleveland independent.
On October 10, 2013, by Royal Decree of Prince Harold I, Cleveland become a Monovish unincorporated colonial territory governed by Edward Jacobs. On December 21, 2016, Cleveland was annexed by Nedland with the rest of Monovia, and was subsequently split off to form its own khanate. On February 9, 2017, following a series of negotiations with Ned Gunderson, Jacobs declared independence from Nedland, creating the Free City of Cleveland.
On May 25, 2017, Cleveland acceded to the Holy Roman Empire.
Government
Cleveland is de facto an absolute monarchy, led by a Despot. He holds absolute power over the legislative, executive and judiciary branches.
