The Democratic Republic of Moava (DRM), commonly known as Moava, is a micronation located within the United Kingdom. Founded on 2 June 2023 as the Republic of Moava, the nation fell into a state of inactivity. On 27 June 2023, the republic was dissolved and Moava was re-founded as the Democratic Republic of Moava.
The government operates under the presidential system of government, with the President of Moava serving as head of state and head of government and a vice president serving as their deputy.
Moava defines itself as a sovereign state, and has done since it was established.
History
The nation was founded as the Republic of Moava on 2 June 2023. It felt into a state of inactivity on 4 June 2023 and remained inactive until 27 June 2023. On 27 June 2023, the republic was dissolved and re-established as the Democratic Republic of Moava. It was reestablished under a stronger central government with the intention a stronger government would be able to oversee national activity and grow the population of the nation.
Government and Politics
Moava is officially under a unitary presidential republic, however since the Republic was dissolved and the Democratic Republic was established there is no current official constitution as the full political system is still under development.
Early Government
Under the Republic, the government was styled somewhat after the Federal Government of the United States but since then the government's powers have changed.
Presidency
The President of Moava is the head of state and executive head of government in the democratic republic. The president is elected by direct election. It is the most powerful and highest office in the state. The president chairs the Council of Ministers and appoints its members and sets the government agenda. The president is aided by the Vice President of Moava.
National Assembly
The National Assembly is the legislature of the nation. It is unicameral and is elected to represent the people. The government requires the support of the National Assembly to pass primary legislation. The National Assembly can also impeach the executive branch of government.
Culture
Moava has a developing culture. The national anthem is 'Rise, O Voices of Moava' and the Flag of Moava serves as a national symbol. The green of the flag represents the people of the nation and the yellow represents national identity and unity.
Geography
Moava currently has no official land claims. The government, however, is hoping to acquire an island for the nation's land claim.
Economy
The Dulune is the currency of Moava. The Ministry of Treasury Affairs and Ministry of Finance help set government fiscal policy which is then implemented by the Bank of Moava.
