The April 2020 Daragonian parliamentary election was the first parliamentary election in the nations history. It saw the first ever elected government take its place in government. On the 2nd of april a coalition government was formed between the Republican Peoples Party and the indepoendent candidate Mgh. Bean.

Background

This was the first parliamentary election in Daragonian history. The Republican Peoples Party, Daragonian National Party and Independent candidate Mgh. Beans campaigned. The indepednent candidate HarveyTB and the English National Party did not campaign.

Campaign

The campaign was short, only lasting 2 days. Only 2 out of 3 of the registered parties. 1 out of the 2 independents campaigned. The campaigns were quite standard. The Republican Peoples Party ran on a campaign promising many new quality of life improvements such as new emojis, bots, weekly voice meet ups etc. They also emphasised their role as Republicans and defenders of the constitution. They outlined all their pledges in a manifesto. The Daragonian National Party did not create a manifesto and much of their campaign was "off the cuff". Their campaign mostly revolved around attacking the RPP for a perceived lack of ambition to protect Daragonian heritage and for being too progressive. Pryderi ap Symmo created a more structured platform for the DNP during the ABCD English live debate, emphasising the parties commitment to Daragonias Celtic identity and stating that the DNP seek for Daragonia to join the international community as long as it meant Daragonia would not lose any sovereignty. The independent candidate Mgh. Beans lead the shortest campaigner, however, he did produce a Manifesto. Mgh. Beans manifesto was incredibly similar to the RPP's manifesto, echoing some RPP policies. However there were distinctions such as a pledge to push for English top become and official language of Daragonia, a position both the RPP and DNP reject.

Results

The election resulted in a hung parliament. 2 seats to the RPP, 2 to the DNP and one to the independent candidate Mgh. Beans.
