The Chief Constable of Lugrad is the professional head of the Lugrad Police Force and is the highest ranking police officer in the Republic of Lugrad. It serves as both a rank and an office in the constabulary.
Role
The role of the chief constable includes but is not limited to:
- Leading the Force
- Creating Visions and Directives for the Force
- Nominating or Appointing Other Senior Force Officers
- Helping Maintain Peace Within the Nation
Appointment
The chief constable is usually an officer from the uniformed division of the police force. Candidates are put forward to the Assembly of the Republic typically by the Minister of Internal Affairs. Parliament then votes on which candidate they wish to nominate, and the candidate who wins the overall majority gets nominated to the president. The president then appoints someone to office.
