The Kingdom of Brannovia, first referred to as the Royal House of Brannovia or the Brannovian Kingdom, and the Kingdom of Ravensberg in Germanic languages, is the core of a predominantly 'Celtic' micronation situated on the western border of the ancient Kingdom of Glywyssing and the eastern border of the ancient Kingdom of Dyfed.

The Brannovian Kingdom is ruled by an absolute monarchy in the form of its founder, Cadobran, who established the Kingdom on the 10th of February, 2022. The ruler is the only official permanent resident of the Kingdom.

Etymology

The name of the Kingdom derives from the Old Celtic bran, which survives in Gaelic and Brythonic languages as the word for raven. It is also the personal name of many legendary Celtic personages such as Bran of Brittany, a Breton warrior who was reincarnated as a crow after dying in prison for his war against Norse raiders; Bran Galed, a Cymric warrior who had in his possession an endlessly-full drinking horn; and most famously Bran Vendigeid, a giant warrior who led an army of Brythons to ancient Eire to release his sister Branwen from the prison of Matholwch. However, it is in honour of the raven that the Kingdom is named.

Separately, there was a Gaulish tribe known as the Brannovii or Brannovices who once lived in what is now the Macon district of France before the Romans devastated Gaul.

History

The Belgic Kingdom of Brannovia was established on the western border of the lands inhabited by the Silurians and the eastern border of the Demetians, two tribes whose ethnogenesis began in the Bronze Age.

The Kingdom of Brannovia is situated north of the Gower Peninsula, where the oldest ceremonial in Western Europe can be found: that of the Red Lady of Pavilland. The Red Lady, who is in fact a Red Lord or Red Sir, in spite of the name, was dyed in red ochre and buried 33.000 years ago, during the Aurignacian Age which followed the Neanderthal Age in Palaeolithic Europe. He was buried with finely-crafted ivory bracelets, seashells, and cylindrical ivory rods.

Following the end of the Palaeolithic and the onset of the Mesolithic, the Atlantic Isles of Albion and Innisfail were settled by Hunter-Gatherers who lived on the yields of the vast forests and the game they hunted in the high plateaus. However, the Neolithic would see a surge in activity with the advance of agriculture from distant Mesopotamia and Anatolia and the movement of Megalith-builders along the Atlantic Coast from points unknown. It is these Cromlech-builders who would gain a strong foothold in Aremorica, Inisfail, and Albion, now Breizh, Eire, and Prydain. They are believed to be associated with the Vasconic people who now occupy southwestern France and northeastern Spain, namely the Basques. An example of Megalithic architecture can be found in Parc Le Breos, in the form of the aptly-named 'Giant''s Grave'.

Ideology

The Kingdom of Brannovia was founded with Celtic sovereignty and independence in mind, distancing itself from existing currents of Celtic Nationalist movements which are devolutionist, republican, and civic nationalist in design. Instead, the philosophy of the European New Right, National Anarchism, and Anarcho-Monarchism/Monarcho-Individualism takes precedence.
