Battle Cry of Freedom

The Battle Cry of Freedom, also known as Rally 'Round the Flag, is the national anthem of the Pacific States of America. It was originally written as an American patriotic song in 1862 by composer George Frederick Root during the American Civil War.

The song strongly advocated for the cause of the Union and abolitionism, but became so popular that composer Hermann L. Schreiner and lyricist William H. Barnes adapted a separate version for the Confederacy. In 2023, the tune was modified again for use as a new national anthem for the Pacific States, with lyrics taken from both previous versions as well as new lyrics written by Dustin Carlson.

Lyrics

Our flag is proudly flying on the land and on the main,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom,
We've rallied from the hillside, and we'll gather from the plain,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom.

(Chorus) Our Pacifia forever! She's never at a loss!
Hoist our proud banner with her thirteen starred cross,
While we rally 'round the flag, boys, we rally once again,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom.

Our gallant boys have marched through the rolling hills and fields,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom,
Their motto is resistance - "To the tyrants never yield!"
Shouting the battle cry of freedom.

(Chorus)

We will welcome to our numbers the loyal, true and brave,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom,
And while all Pacifians live, they shall never live as slaves,
Shouting the battle cry of Freedom.

(Chorus)

So we're springing to the call from all across the West,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom,
And in the name of God, defend this land we love the best,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom.

(Chorus)
