The Azorean Commonwealth (also known as the Commonwealth of Azore or Azore) is a nation founded by Luke of Wellmoore, to preserve Wellmoore's history as a short-lived republic and also to gain more experience as a Micronational President. He also wanted to contribute more to the micronational community.
The Commonwealth was established on the 16th of February 2022 and is still currently being developed.
Since 31 July 2022 the commonwealth has been under New Melanesian rule.
History
Foundation Period (16th of February 2022 - 11 July 2022)
In this time the nation was founded, along with aspects of the nation's government and services.
Defunct Period (11 July 2022 - 31 July 2022)
The nation feld into a state of defunctness. Luke of Wellmoore decided to shut down the nation as it was inactive.
Annexation (31 July 2022)
After some consideration, Luke decided to restart the nation but have it annexed by the Republic of New Melanesia. This was to allow the nation to become active and functional.
Governance & Politics
The nation is governed a Governor-General, who serves as viceregal on behalf of the President of New Melanesia and a Prime Minister who sits as head of government and a member of the National Assembly.
The National Assembly is the unicameral legislative organ of the Azorean Parliament.

The Commonwealth has no policy so far on foreign affairs, but is in relations with the following nations and organisations.

Currently the Azorean economy is under development as currently the nation has no established currency.

Armed Forces
The Commonwealth is defended by the Armed Forces of Azore, which consists of an Army, Navy and Air Force.
There is no conscription in Azore - however people may willingly join the branches. The role of the Armed Forces at present is largely ceremonial.
