The Ashukov Imperial Armed Forces, commonly abbreviated AIAF, is the national armed forces of the Tsardom of Ashukovo and, respectively, her dependencies. The term has been used since the establishment of the Tsardom after the collapse of the Federation, regarding which it was formally known as the Ashukov Federal Armed Forces.

The Imperial Armed Forces consists of the Army (Ашуковская Армия), Air Force (Ашуковские Воздушные Силы),Navy (Ашуковский Флот) and Territorial Defence (Ашуковская Территориальная Защита). Sub-branches also include the Ministry of War Information. The AIAF swear allegiance to the Tsar, HIH, Tsar Emmanuel I, and is controlled by the Ministry of Defence and, in turn, the Tsar himself.

The Ashukov forces bases itself on a loose combination of the Russian and Yugoslav militaries, especially drawing from the JNA's combat doctrine. The main conventional branches, being the Army, Navy and Air Force; work on wearing down the enemy until the partisan force of the Territorial Defence (in some countries known as the Home Guard) can re-group and continue the main fight using partisan tactics, with the continuing support of the smaller main branches. It was believed by the Yugoslav planners to be the "best method by which a smaller nation could properly defend itself against a much stronger invader," hence its implication on the date of the force's founding as a result of Imperial Overseer Sebastian Schriber's reforms.

History

The Ashukov Imperial Armed Forces has took many forms during its long life time. The biggest and most important form would be the Ashukov Federal Armed Forces. It was the main fighting force of the Federation of Ashukovo, and was utilized to expand the nation's culture and influence aggressively. Although relatively inactive, it still was a prominent figure in micronational armed forces, and provided a 'spring board' for the Ashukov nation. It was however, troubled with the combination of Federation and Administration. The government simply could not figure out an efficient way to let the constituent states deal with their own military as well as contribute to the greater body itself.

The Federal Armed Forces passed through many incarnations, however the new reforms of the Imperial Armed Forces solved this large problem. The AIAF has never been in any engagements, and is used predominantly as a defensive force, focusing on reserve numbers. Many of the forces are expected to respond in the event of a national crisis, such as a flood or tornado.

Doctrine and Structure

As aforementioned, the Ashukov military operates on Yugoslavia's "People's War" doctrine. With full support of the Imperial Duma and the blessing of the Tsar, the reforms were implemented along with the establishment of the AFIAF itself. The Tsar is the Commander-in-Chief, with all soldiers swearing and oath of loyalty to the crown upon conscription. There is, however, a difference in how the Ashukov Armed Forces are run relative to other micronational forces. The three main service branches are all directly administered by the Ministry of Defence and come under the Ashukov banner only. They have servicemen and women enlisted from all over the world and the Tsardom, but remains Ashukov only.

However, the Territorial Defence, on the other hand, is run by the constituent nation it belongs to, and is administered by their respective Ministry or organization. This ensures that each Territorial Defence brigade, which is in some terms the army of the constituent nation itself, has the ability to mould it to what is required in the nation. This ensures coordinated and systematic responses to threats and diminishes the administration problem the Federation had outlined above. This also means that the personnel in the TD know their own country and are able to use the terrain to their advantage if partisan tactics were to be implemented. Furthermore, the Territorial Defence acts as a security and police force in peace time, allowing the time and training of the personnel to be directed efficiently. Each Territorial Defence brigade is referred to in respect of the nation it is from, i.e St. Konstantin. The localised government may choose anything, from how many units should be allocated to which sub-branch or what vehicles or equipment are required from the budget.
