Purpose
Working towards the creation of a new island nation.

The Artificial Island Project (AIP) is an effort to build an artificial island in international waters on which a new nation will be founded. The AIP members seek to cooperate with other micronational and seasteading groups in hopes that a combined effort will be more likely to succeed. Currently the group has two members and one partnered micronation.

History

In late 2020 ToryPirate began to have doubts about the viability of Antarctic settlement due to an inability to figure out the transportation issue and a slow down in the number of new members joining. The short-lived Commonwealth of Ducie was at about the same time in the planning stages of an expedition to settle Ducie Atoll. ToryPirate advised them on certain aspects of island survival. This led him to remember an area of the Indian Ocean that had very shallow waters. After some consideration the Antarctic Settlement Research Group was made inactive (although contact lists and reference materials have been preserved) and the new project was launched.

The AIP members partnered with the Mozanian Empire which also had an interest in building artificial islands. One member of the defunct Antarctic Settlement Research Group who agreed island building was a more viable plan was also recruited. Following the Heat wave that smothered Western Canada in June, 2021 ToryPirate reconsidered his deactivation of the Antarctic Settlement Research Group. He now runs the two initiatives concurrently.

Flag

The flag of the Artificial Island Project depicts an island rising out of the sea. It is a variation of the flag of the Antarctic Settlement Research Group.
