The Constitutional Monarchy of Airedalandia, more commonly known as Airedalandia is a unitary semi-parliamentary democracy.
History
The first nation-building efforts that led to the establishment of Airedalandia began in 2008. The next milestone came in April 2014, when Airedalandia was further developed as part of a collaborative project with 3 other micronationalists, the leaders of Gentelibre, Valhunnia, and Zootron, respectively.
By 2016, Airedalandia's government structure had been worked out in principle, and the founding King's official portrait was taken. 2016 also saw the creation of the first physical Airedalandian flags.
On March 13, 2017, the first Airedalandia Day celebration was held. Prime Minister Tyler Ponsford and his seven flag bearers paraded to the Airedalandian national anthem and made a much wider audience aware of the nascent nation. This set the stage for the nation's first election, little over a month later, on April 27, 2017. Members of the First National Parliament were inaugurated in early May, and the first constitution of Airedalandia was enacted on May 16, 2017. The National Parliament elected its first Speaker, Justin Hu, on that same day. In the following months parliamentary byelections were held, the first new citizen was naturalized.
