An election to select the 1st President of the Republic of Euroaustro took place in March of 2021. The President will take office on the 1st of April 2021.
Background
Procedure
The Constitution of the Republic of Euroaustro provides that "The President shall be elected every 4 years. Pursuant to this, the president is, by norm rather than specific policy, required to announce the opening of the elections within a reasonable time before the four-year period is up.
Any citizen from a state may nominate themselves to run for the presidency, provided they are not "already running for another post within the republic, such as the Supreme Court or another agency within the Republic of Euroaustro". They may, however, "if they have been nominated to one of these offices... decline and be considered eligible to run for the post of president".
