On 1 February 2020, an outbreak of the common cold started in the Ponderosan capital, Arastraville, when the nation's Premier, Leon Montan, got the viral disease. About 2 days later, it spread to an American expatriate living in the nation. The outbreak ended on 7 February 2020.
