The United Workers’ Soviets of Krasnia and Wustria, commonly known as the United Workers' Soviets, is a micronation located in Arizona, USA. It consists of three soviets, and one federal soviet (the governing soviet of the nation). The United Workers' Soviets has three official members and 12 people living within its borders. The national capital is Kaktusagrad, and the most populous is Yarograd and Wüstenburg.
Etymology
The first known use of "United Workers' Soviets" dates back to the 25 of April, 2021, when both the leader of Yarograd and the leader of Kaktusagrad both agree to create a new government. A few names were past around but both leaders eventually settled on the United Workers' Soviets. The name symbolizes the unification and the two soviets under one banner.
History
Founding of Kaktusagrad and Integration into the Republic of Wustria
It is not known exactly when Kaktusagrad was founded but most suspect the summer of 2020. The Socialist Republic of Kaktusagrad's leader, Paradox, decide to go around asking those he knew from Discord to join his micronation. It is from these discussions he found out about the existence of a micronation in the same city as Kaktusagrad, Wustria. Wustria was at that time an active micronation with a functioning democracy and had more members than Kaktusagrad. It is here Paradox would meet many more people, even the future founder of Yarograd. Paradox and the founder of Yarograd would found the Social Democratic Party of Wustria, which was the only left-wing party in Wustria. Later however Wustria would go through a political fallout with several people including Paradox being accused of treason and put on trial. No one was accused of any crimes, but this event led to the fall of Wustria and many members abandon the nation.
Reassertion of Kaktusagradian Independence and Founding of the United Workers' Soviets
The reassertion of Kaktusagradian Independence came when Paradox wanted to get back into micronationalism. Paradox contacted many former members about trying to revive Wustria, but only a few got back to him. One man though also felt the same about wanting to get back into micronationalism, but agreed that Wustria could not be restored because of the lack of responses from the former members of Wustria. It was that day Kaktusagrad would reassert its independence from Wustria and become an independent nation once more on the 24th of April 2021. That same day Yarograd was officially formed and declared independence. The next day both leaders sat down for discussions of the future of the former Wustrian territories. Both agreed that a merger of some sorts between the two new nations must happen, but did not exactly know how to go about it. Kaktusagrad and Yarograd were both joined Wustria late into its lifespan and did not consider themselves to true "Wustrians". They were not even referred to as true Wustrians during the time they two territories were within Wustria, so the people of Kaktusagrad and Yarograd had no desire to refer to themselves as Wustria.
The Spring Revolt/Uprising of 2023
The events that took place in the spring of 2023 in the United Workers’ Soviets were a turning point in the history of the country. The election of Apple Pebble as Chairman of the Supreme Soviet had sparked a clash between the old guard of the Communist Party, led by Paradox, and reformists such as ApplePebble. As tensions rose and debates became more hostile, ApplePebble resigned as Chairman and formed the Yarograd Congress, a political movement that appeared to be aimed at petitioning the old guard to pass reformist legislation. However, within the Congress was a conspiratorial group led by Pebble to overthrow the Supreme Soviet and establish a new, more liberal regime centered in Yarograd.
When Chairman Paradox caught wind of the conspiracy, he called for the immediate disbandment of the Yarograd Congress and any other formal political movements. But this only fueled revolutionary and liberal sentiment, and Apple Pebble saw his opportunity to seize power. He declared the Yarograd Congress the new governing body of Yarograd and dissolved the local soviet. The Archduke of Wustria, Alpaco, seized the town of Wüstenburg and dissolved the local soviet there as well.
Peaceful attempts to quell the rebellion failed, and Paradox was forced to mobilize the Soviet army. But the mobilization was slow and disorderly, giving the revolutionaries more time to organize.
On April 26, 2023, the Archduke of Wustria was invited to Yarograd and granted the titles of Grand Duke of Yarograd and King of All Krasnia by the Yarograd Congress. In addition, both nations agreed to sign the Treaty of the Confederation of Yarograd, establishing a customs union and the creation of a joint army. The newly created Confederation of Yarograd now outnumbered the United Workers’ Soviets’ army 2 to 1.
On the 27th of April 2023, Apple Pebble to negotiate a peaceful separation of the two rebel states from the United Workers’ Soviets. Talks between the United Soviets and the Confederation ended, and the outnumbered Soviet army marched on Yarograd on April 29, 2023, to disband the Yarograd Congress. The hope was that the army could catch the Confederation off guard and win a decisive battle. The battle began late afternoon when the Soviets came under fire from a Confederation army led by Apple Pebble. The Soviet plan worked, a decisive and clear victory was won, and Apple Pebble surrendered his army and repledged his allegiance to the Supreme Soviet.
Upon hearing the news of the disastrous defeat of the Confederation army at Yarograd, the Archduke of Wustria surrendered the town of Wüstenburg over to the Soviet army. He renounced all royal titles and pledged allegiance to the Supreme Soviet. The punishments were harsh for the rebels, and Paradox temporarily placed the Wüstenburg and Yarograd Soviets under martial law, and no elected representatives from either Soviet to the Supreme Soviet were allowed for three months.
