The United Workers’ Soviets, commonly known as the United Soviets, is a micronation located in Arizona, USA. It consists of three soviets, and one federal soviet (the governing soviet of the nation). The United Soviets has three official members and 12 people living within its borders. The national capital is Kaktusagrad, and the most populous is Doughgrad and Wüstenburg.

The first known use of "United Soviets" dates back to the 25 of April, 2021, when both the leader of Doughgrad and the leader of Kaktusagrad both agree to create a new government. A few names were past around but both leaders eventually settled on the United Soviets. The name symbolizes the unification and the two soviets under one banner.

Founding of Kaktusagrad and Integration into the Republic of Wuzstria

It is not known exactly when Kaktusagrad was founded but most suspect the summer of 2020. The Socialist Republic of Kaktusagrad's leader, Paradox, decide to go around asking those he knew from Discord to join his micronation. It is from these discussions he found out about the existence of a micronation in the same city as Kaktusagrad, Wuzstria. Wuzstria was at that time an active micronation with a functioning democracy and had more members than Kaktusagrad. It is here Paradox would meet many more people, even the future founder of Doughgrad. Paradox and the founder of Doughgrad would found the Social Democratic Party of Wuzstria, which was the only left-wing party in Wuzstria. Later however Wuzstria would go through a political fallout with several people including Paradox being accused of treason and put on trial. No one was accused of any crimes, but this event led to the fall of Wuzstria and many members abandon the nation.

Reassertion of Kaktusagradian Independence and Founding of the United Soviets

The reassertion of Kaktusagradian Independence came when Paradox wanted to get back into micronationalism. Paradox contacted many former members about trying to revive Wuzstria, but only a few got back to him. One man though also felt the same about wanting to get back into micronationalism, but agreed that Wuzstria could not be restored because of the lack of responses from the former members of Wuzstria. It was that day Kaktusagrad would reassert its independence from Wuzstria and become an independent nation once more. That same day Doughgrad was officially formed and declared independence. The next day both leaders sat down for discussions of the future of the former Wuzstrian territories. Both agreed that a merger of some sorts between the two new nations must happen, but did not exactly know how to go about it. Kaktusagrad and Doughgrad were both joined Wuzstria late into its lifespan and did not consider themselves to true "Wuzstrians". They were not even referred to as true Wuzstrians during the time they two territories were within Wuzstria, so the people of Kaktusagrad and Doughgrad had no desire to refer to themselves as Wuzstria. Both decided in the end to sign a treaty making the merger official but using both Kaktusagrad and Doughgrad in the official name of the country.

Government and politics

The United Workers' Soviets is a federal socialist republic with a one-party system of three soviets and one federal soviet. It is a socialist republic and soviet democracy. Every induvial soviet has its own workers' council (soviet) that governs its specified territory.

In the United Soviets, citizens are subjected to two levels of government: federal and state (local soviet). Local soviet government's have the duties of doing local governance on behalf of the Supreme Soviet. State (local soviet) councils are elected by the citizens through a plurality vote.

The Supreme Soviet encompasses all branches of the federal government. The basic structure and powers of the federal government is explained in the founding treaty of the United Soviets.

The Supreme Soviet comprises two branches:

  • Legislative: The Council has the duties of making federal law, has the power of the purse, and has the power of impeachment, by which it can remove sitting members of the government. The Council is made up of representatives (known as Councilmen) from each soviet in the United Soviets.
  • Executive: The Premier is the commander-in-chief of the military, can veto legislative bills before they become law, and appoints the members of the Premierial Council and other officers, who administer and enforce federal laws and policies.

In the United Soviets, only one party is allowed to run for public offices and allowed to exist, the Communist Party of the United Workers' Soviets or the CPUWS. All another parties or independent politicians that have been deemed radical or dissident are not allowed to speak publicly about politics. Any member of the Communist Party is allowed to attend the Communist National Congress to discuss the future of the party and its leader, it is in no way a government or governing body of the nation.
