United Republic of Oakwood

The United Republic of Oakwood is a not very well known decently sized micronation.

History(unfinished)

The United Republic of Oakwood has an extensive history over the course of it's history since it's founding on June 10th, 2000. Below you can look at the timeline for more specific events or the further reading below that.

Timeline(unfinished) 1900-2001

1900s:

-The land that is now Oakwood is undeveloped and it’s only visitors were the occasional animal

1998:

-The Property that is now Oakwood is purchased by the Harrison Family from its mysterious former owners, and plans to construct a cabin are laid down

-The Harrison Property is established with the provisional capital in Harrison Camp(located in what is now the state of Cabinia in the Oakwoodian Basin)

-The Harrison Defense Forces(HDF) are established and lay down the groundwork for the Oakwoodian Military

1999:

-The United Properties of Harrisinia are established with the capital in Harrison Camp

-The construction of the Harrison Families cabin continues, and plans to make it the capital and new center of power are discussed

-The HDF makes considerable advancements in transportation and technology

2000:

-An election takes place before the founding of Oakwood to decide who will become the first president of the new nation.

-The United Republic of Oakwood is founded on June 10th with the capital in Harrison camp

-The state of Oakia is admitted as the first state of Oakwood from parts of the central territory, and the remaining land of the central territory is split up into the southern territory and the northern territory

-The constitution of Oakwood is written declaring equal rights and justice for all Oakwoodians, and it outlines how the government of the fledgling republic will work and operate.

-The state of Cabinia is admitted, becoming Oakwood’s second state from the southern territory, and the Eastern and Marshland Territories are created

2001:

-Pirate Creek is admitted, becoming Oakwood’s third state from the northern territory.

-Construction on the cabin and future capital continues and nears completion

-The HDF is officially changed into the Oakwoodian Defense Forces

-The ODF(Oakwoodian Defense Forces) makes considerable advancements in Robotics and transportational technology.

2002:

-Turkey Clearing is admitted, becoming Oakwood’s fourth state from the Eastern Territory.

-The Harrison’s cabin is finally completed after four years of construction, and is dubbed Hidden Oak.

-The seat of power is moved from Harrison Camp to Hidden Oak, and Harrison Camp is all but abandoned.

Harrison Property

1998-2000

In August of 1998, the Harrison family purchased most of what would become the United Republic of Oakwood. The Harrison Property had no official flag but most people just give it a plain blue rectangle as a de-facto flag.  The Harrison Property was established and after many fun camping trips, all of the land was put into a family trust, eventually resulting in a constitution being written, and the founding of the new, democratic, United Republic of Oakwood.

Early Years

2000-2005

Oakwood was founded on June 10th 2000.(Unofficially) The state of Oakia became the first state of Oakwood shortly after Oakwood was declared.
