The United Provinces of Kalamazoo is a micronation that was founded on 3 October 2012. It was relatively involved with other micronations around the area near the nation's borders.
History
It was founded on 3 October 2012, by HRH King Luis 1 and has since been active in North America. They had a small rebellion which made the current constitution instead of a loose provincial nation where they did not identify themselves as "Kalamazooian's". After the formation of the current constitution, it had stayed relatively peaceful. But the same population in early 2014 felt more closely toward the nation of Austenasia.
It had been in a civil conflict with the date around 14 May 2014, when the conflict began. It had been engaged between Pro Kalamazoo government supporters and Pro Separatist rebels. The conflict began when a small part of the U.P.K wanted to make a new democratic Austenasia but they instead of voting to leave as the constitution states but invaded all the country from the south. The Confederate Provinces of Austenasia was formed and tried to establish an alliance with the Empire of Austenasia but never received a letter due to the rebels fighting and trying to form a government. They were defeated at the Battle of the Wood. Since the end of the civil war, the U.P.K has had a neutral history that has helped it never been engaged in a large scale war with a foreign power. And many within the government wish to keep it that way.
However, in July 2015, it made a declaration that if any micronation that is not from America's wishes to expand into the Americas, it asks that the nation informs the UPK's government beforehand as to not cause border disputes.
In 2018, a neighboring micronation, the Kleinstuck Confederacy, asked for help in its civil war between the government and members of a tribe calling themselves, "The First Lightning Horde." The government decided to send peacekeepers and advisors to the Confederacy.
Government
The government runs with the King and Prime Minister, though it has a federal republic structure rather than a parliamentary structured government. However, it does not normally intervene with other nations unless they affect the United Provinces in politics or the economy. The UPK only declares war if it directly affects the nation.
The Legislative Branch has the power to make laws, treaties and votes on the supreme judges the Monarch chooses. They can also impeach the Prime Minister or any other government official if they commit a crime against the law and can override a veto by a 2/3 majority.
The Executive is headed by the King or Queen or Prince/Princess regent but he remains more of a figurehead but does have the power to deal with foreign affairs. The Prime Minister job is to take care of internal affairs. The Monarchs can propose laws and sign them and veto them. The Monarch can select judges and make them candidates for the supreme court.
The Supreme Court check was to see if laws abide by the constitution and can have the power to make the ultimate decisions for the nation if a large issue ensues within all the courts across the country. They can also put those convicted of treason on trial.
Law and order
The country runs a civil code similar to that of the United States. With a provincial supreme court, district courts, and finally Supreme Court. It has a national police system that deals with petty crimes and such. Though, before any arrest or search is made, a judge must allow for a warrant.
Military
The Armed forces of the United Provinces of Kalamazoo are made up of the Army, Navy, and Airforce. The Army and Navy are the most active of the military services due to the lack of manned aircraft, but the use of reconnaissance drones.
