United Cleterdom

United Cleterdom is a micronation surrounded by Kitchener-Waterloo and other parts of the Canadian province of Ontario. Other parts of the country are surrounded by the Canadian province of Quebec as well as the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Below is some basic information on the country:

History

The country was originally called the Republic of Cleteristan, however through a voting process it was changed to the Principality of Cleteristan and then the United Cleterdom (Cleterdom meaning the head of state is the Beterist Prince and the British monarch). At one point one state of the country decided to leave the Union, however they also claimed a part of the capital city (which is a federal district, controlled by the federal government). The dispute was resolved in favor of the then Republic of Cleteristan, and there was also a buffer zone imposed between both nations. A couple of months later, a trade agreement was signed, and less than a month after that the then Republic of Cleteristan paid 6,000 Schleter (US$60) to reunify the country, and for three years afterwards must pay 500 SCH (US$5) per annum.

Geography

The United Cleterdom is landlocked and comprised of an area of no more than 2 square miles. There are 3 states (Cleterston, Iles St. Deshles, and the New Territories). Additionally, there is a federal district (St. Cletersberg) which is the site of all government buildings, including the future site of the Beterist Museum.

People

The population of the U.C. is 11. The noun to address somebody from the U.C. is "Beterist" and the adjective is also "Beterist". The national language is English and formerly French (although there was a brief period when Esperanto almost replaced French).

Government

The time zone is UTC−4. The United Cleterdom does not observe Daylight Savings Time. The government type is a constitutional monarchy. The country's independence day is February 1. The current President is Sir Dylan AJR, leader of the Conservative Party.

Economy

The country relies on tax revenue (which is incredibly low as a result of low taxes) and paying in the local currency, known as the Schleter. US$1 is equal to 100 SCH.
