The U.D.O.M Orbital mission 1, was a space mission designed to take a CubeSat to orbit, and marked the first time the U.D.O.M launched a successful orbital rocket. The mission launched on September 24, 2017. It ended on January 3rd 2018
Launch date: 10/24/17 end date: 1/3/18 deorbit date (intentional): 1/3/18
The mission was built by the newly founded Rocket Propulsion Research Laboratory (RPRL). It was done by the only successful launch of a COMET 1 rocket. The mission was supposed to do the following:
- take high res photos of earth (success, it took 4,501 pictures, 1 was during deorbit.)
- take an atmosphere sample and return it to earth (failure; capsule failed to separate and was destroyed.)
- survive at least 1 month (success)
It did science with 2 basic instruments:
- thermometer
- spectrometer
and a camera.
